We are not really a value site but in general logo dials perhaps some would pay a little more if they was a collector of logo dials. But on the other side of the coin many would not buy because of the logo on dial.

Sorry, i guess my question of "any special value to it" may have seemed like i was asking for a price on it, but i was mostly wondering if there was any rarity to it

Any watch can be engraved anything on the back, no connection with Rolex.

IBM, Bill Gates, Joe Pesci or Hamlet.....

Exactly and no added value even might be devalued.

IBM Quarter Centry Club, 25years service award, was a standard SS date-just. Recipients had a choice of several gifts of like value, one option used to be a Rolex/DJ in Stainless steel. The engraved back was not personalized, just engraved per above--nothing special. Traded my NIB service award DJ for a Submariner at local Rolex AD same week I received it!

Given to IBMers who completed 25 years of service. They don’t do that anymore. You now get a pat on the back saying thank you and a kick out of the door. :)

Can confirm this is true as I use to work at IBM 5 years back. The gift for 30 years of service is a pen. Almost laughed when they told us at the induction.

Would be a very rare occasion today for an individual to have a 25-years career with a large corporation, especially IBM in my opinion.

Damn - knew I worked for the wrong company.

My company gift from the 25 year anniversary catalog a couple of years ago was a choice between a bunch of items like a bronze bird feeder and a modest Seiko. Both retailed for about $230. So I did what any enterprising young lad would do - I took the Seiko. Watch was not half bad.

Time to move onto better companies - I still have 25 years left. But only 2 of those would be a tune employment.

Steve

My buddy wears daily the one his Dad was given by IBM back in '85. He truly wears it every day.

I have my dad's Rolex. He got it in 1982. It has his name on the back and his date of entering into the Quarter Century Club.

I've only worn it on special occasions, I normally wear my GMT or Sub. With that said, that is the first Rolex I've ever had. He gave it to me because he couldn't see the dial anymore. I've had it appraised by my AD and serviced by them as well.

When I hit 25 years with IBM the stainless Datejust had morphed from a stainless Tudor in the '90s to a Concord watch. Since I already owned a two-tone DJ I had purchased on my own when I started my career, I opted for the grandfather clock option.

I may be able to get my hands on this tomorrow. Still need to work out a price, but chances are pretty decent. This might be the wifes watch...

Very nice sir, lets see the engraving on the back! Did it come with the paper from IBM?

This is very cool! I would love if i had something like that from my dad. It’s a classic watch that still can be worn today and look great. Good for you!

Engraving on the back devalues a watch on resale market. Because of that, you might get a good deal on an IBM engraved one

As a side note... I love the way an aged Datejust looks.

I'm starting to think I would rather be chasing these older watches than trying to get anything new.

They are great watches

Because a lot of folks will not want a Rolex (or other brand) that has a award engraving on it, these watches can be gotten cheap. There seems to be a bit of a stigma on cooperate branding on Rolex watches. This is a shame as these are no less of a Rolex. After all Rolex engraved the case back and you cannot see the branding when on the wrist anyway.

That is how I got my Rolex Domino's award watch. Nobody wanted it because it had a 14k white gold dominos logo on the bracelet and a logo engraved on the case back. Other then those 2 things, it is just a normal Oyster Perpetual 36 model 116000. it was like new and I wound up getting it for way less then a non Domino's used OP36 cost. If I wanted to get rid of the Domino's stuff, all I need to do is have Rolex replace the non removable link with a new one(they have a machine that can split them) and have them replace the case back. Rolex quoted me about $300 for these items. If I was to do this, I would send it in for a service and have them do it. After adding up all the costs, I still come out cheaper then buying a non Domino's OP36

However i like the Domino's stuff so I am keeping it on.
