bracelet tool-screwdriver
for you professionals, what kind of and where can I purchase a screwdriver that is used to remove and adjust the links on my SS Submariner M version? Also, are non metallic screwdrivers available that would not mess up the head of the bracelet screws? The adjustment seems a simple task, any advice on the procedure would be greatly appreciated.....

The best Rolex screwdriver are the one that came with the Sea Dweller tool kit. Although the SeaDweller is discontinued, you can still find the tool kids on eBay. Typically $40.00, but it is worth it as this screwdriver is the best fitting.

You can also find a decent set of these at your hardware store. Get the better ones. There is a bout a 5 dollar price difference. They are not expensive and do the job quiet well for me.

I always use the SeaDweller tool as it is a perfect fit.
Here is a guy selling the tool on it's own. I have compared the pictures to mine (from an SD) and it appears to be the real deal. Expensive but it will undo all Oyster bracelet screws. It is too big for Jubillee bracelet screws. Just your take your time and get everything prepared before you start http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-Rolex-...1%7C240%3A1318 You need to find a way of holding the bracelet securely with the screw head upwards. Then you can push firmly downwards with little chance of slipping as you use the screwdriver. I use a block similar to this with a microfibre cloth between the bracelet and the block to avoid scratches https://www.watchtool.co.uk/bergeon-...ts-p-6441.html Hope this helps, PeterT |

I disagree that the SD tool is the best for the job.. I believe that the much larger handled and easier to grip Bergeon style screwdriver of the proper size (1.6mm) is the right tool for the job..
You can get them at most watchmaker supply houses such as Otto Frei - ofrei.com - I also don't think that you really want a non-metallic for the SS screws.. A dollar screw is a lot easier to replace than a bent up 20 dollar screwdriver.. We show how to take links out and compare a few blade sizes over in the Reference Library under the Amateur Watchmakers Corner..

I also use the sea dweller tool. I find the Bergeon screwdrivers too sharp for link screws, the SD tool has never damaged a screw head even once, as it's a perfect fit.

I used my Panerai tool today to change the strap on my GMT2C and that worked fine...think its a 1.6mm size.

Tools
Can you provide a model number for the 1.60 mm screwdriver from Bergeon. I am thinking other members made need to adjust the bracelet on their subs as well. I have seen several models of screwdrivers, both ergonomic and simple. Is this the same tool Rolex Service Centers use? |

rolex ref 2001 tool
I was wondering if the rolex ref 2001 tool that is included with the seadweller kit fits a submariner bracelet? If it does are the available for purchase individually and at what cost? Or is the bergeon 1.60 mm screwdriver a more accurate tool?

It should. I finally took out the tool from my SD and it's fitting very nicely! It's much better than the one I have been using before and scratched the screw a few times in the process. The SD screwdriver fits very nicely inside the screw and sits firmly.
I would agree if there is a "fatter" handle, it would be even better. I think if I need extra torque in the future I may apply tapes around it making the grip fatter.

Did you use the SD tool on the submariner bracelet, are the screws the same size?

The ends of the screw on SD are polished but matte on Sub.
I would think they should be interchangeable but I have never tried it. The Reference # on the tool is 2100.
