Hello to all! Newbie to the forum. Ok now to my SUB issue. I purchased my SUB new in January of 09, beautiful timepieace!! Lately I have nocticed that after I clean it (warm water and soft hand soap) the bezel makes a clicking sound. When drying it off if you put your fingers at the 3 and 9 mark and move them kinda like side to side you hear this noise. The crown has always been screwed down tightly so doesn't seem to have water getting in. Now after about an hour if you do the same thing again the noise has gone away. Is this common for SUBs or a issue that needs to be repaired. I'm getting married this weekend so I would really like to wear it on my wedding day.

Can't comment on your problem. But I would wait to have it repaired (if it even needs repairing) 'till after the weekend. Congratulations on your wedding. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your upcoming marriage as well as the Sub. What you are describing does not send and alarm bells off. There is always a little play in the bezel and the water could be changing the way it turns...no big deal IMO. Enjoy the watch and your upcoming wedding!

WOW!! That was fast on the replies. Thanks to all!! Glad I found this forum because I have caught the Rolex bug now. Seriously I don't even want to wear my other watches. Thanks again!!

My dear friend,

Enjoy your watch on your marriage day, no problem !

The bezel, is push fit on the outer case and has a spring locator, counting the minute positions, that makes the click sound when turned. There is no connection between the crown, water in the watch with the sounds of the bezel.

The only point that you need to take care is to make sure that the bezel is well attached on the watch, so it does not fall off. Try to turn it and push it left right to see that it is secure.

First welcome to the forum and great choice on your Rolex purchase.

Hanging around here tends to multiply Rolex collections,

The bezel is made to turn one direction only, and with or without water you will hear a ratchet noise coming from the click spring. I think the introduction of water has magnified the sound.

Here is a link on how it looks like off the watch, and if you have any further concerns then take it back to your AD and have them look at it, you did purchase the watch from a Authorized Rolex Dealer?

I know exactly what you are talking about. when you wash your watch or swim in it it is changing temp on the metal,so while wiping it off it feels kinda spongy when you push on the bezel not turning it. my sub and seadweller both does that it is normal. when your watch is completely dry it feels normal again.

Wear it in good health. When you get a moment, most Rolex dealers can take a quick look and verify if all is OK.

Yes I purchased it from an AD. Prices have really jumped up from the last time I checked them out before my purchase..... well that was like 3 years ago..lol

My dad is a watch repairman,I have seen many many rolexes tore down. my seadweller is 13 yrs old and my sub is 1 yr old and they live in the water , it is a normal thing for metal,stainless steel to react different to temp . As long as your crown is screwed in good you should have no worries about your watch and water especially if new .GOOD LUCK WITH THE MARRIAGE AND THE ICON OF ROLEX.............
