If, when, and what changes would be next to the Rolex Sky-Dweller?

Being the newest model from Rolex, I think we can all confidently say this one is here to stay in the lineup for the long run.

All models are changed at least ever so slightly over time.

Just for fun what do you speculate would be next changes to The sky dweller? And I feel its near perfect I don’t know what much else they would do it it.

A TT RG model is the most likely to assume.

What do you guys think could potentially change on this model over the coming years?

Hoping for a slimmed down 40-41mm model. Would love one in small dimensions.

I agree with you.

I wish they would add the annual calendar complication to the current Day Date 40 and Datejust 41 collection. Meaning the part where the month is lit up in red over the hour marker corresponding with the appropriate month

A TT RG White Dial would be beautiful and I would definitely consider one!

When Rolex feels ready to refresh the Sky Dweller, they ought to consider a better human interface.

Like the 5205 with a day-date-month.

And if they want to achieve a new pinnacle for the model, go for the goalposts - add the moonphase into the TZ subdial.

If they can do moon for Cellini 50535 then it’s there for the taking...

My dream Rolex would be skyD with a President bracelet.

Doubt that will happen. Realistically I think an offering in platinum is more likely.

I would like a platinum but will settle for another white gold. As for what the SkyDII brings? I hope a complete reinvention like the YTI to YTII. I want to get excited for something new in the ultimate travelers watch.

I’m with you on this it would be an absolute beast. I’ve got a TT skyD turning up in the next few days. Bringing total up to 4 :)

They did it on the new OF so it’d be a possibility. Would a sky dweller interest you then Brian?

It took 50 years for them to offer the Daytona in platinum, 60 years to change the case size of the submariner. 50ish years to add a moon phase to the Cellini. I can’t foresee any of the changes suggested other than dial color.

The yachtmaster 1 was the red headed step child of the Rolex line up for a long time, the sky dweller has been a relative success since its launch. Definitely no reason for a total makeover.
I personally couldn’t imagine them doing anything other than adding more colors, the glide lock possibly, but even that seems like a stretch.

Yes indeed, and I think its brilliant!

I might consider it, but I've learned for me that the larger Rolex references just don't suit my wrist like the 40's (and now 41's).

I've tried the Skydweller a number of times at my AD. Its a beauty for sure. My only other issue is the dial legibility ... something you'll understand in your 50's

This is what would rule out something DJ sized for some potential buyers. The reference time dial looks great in photos but doesn't easily give up its information on the move in variable light conditions for anyone with less than excellent visual acuity.

42mm seems about the minimum. What's next? Anything they like. I'm sure Rolex will continue to play with it and I'm equally sure the results will be stunning.

Platinum would be an obvious change along with a TT in RG.

Have to agree Harry

There are so many references I’d like to own, but once the eyes start to go it pretty much limits my choices

Too big. It needs to be far slimmer and 40-41mm max. As others have said, if they could add a moon phase to it, it would be hot as well. I don't think any of these things are going to happen anytime soon, though.

I dumped mine because it’s too too heavy and the bracelet is too wide. I like a gmt function so I replaced with a pepsi

On a President it would be the ultimate Rolex for me and I gladly get rid of all the others. They never would get any wrist time again

I’ve been waiting for the RG TT. 2021 will be the fifth year of the Rolesor models. I’m thinking this will be the year. I’m sure it’ll be in high demand even as a TT.

I have a Sky Dweller (blue dial) and dial legibility is an issue - it's not a glance as it is with my Planet Ocean. I have to really look it! Outdoors is not an issue, but inside, this time of year - not great. The GMT dial is particularly tricky.

Apart from making it easier to read, I'm not sure what else Rolex could do. A perpetual calendar would be awkward (space for the leap year indicator) and make the dial look like the flight deck of Concorde. Size is fine for me - it looks 'normal' sized on my wrist. Remove the GMT and put the day of the week on it? Mad suggestion as it defeats the travel component of the watch - but I'd buy one.
The movement is too good to only have it in the Sky.
