Who gave a xmas gift to their Sales Assoc.?
Do you normally gift your Rolex SA/s during xmas? If so, what did you gift them this year if you don’t mind sharing.
Has it paid off for you in the past in terms of consideration for your desired pieces? |

I did, but just because he's a solid guy...100 dollar gift certificate to a local restaurant group. Don't give anything because you're trying to edge in, just do it if you want to do something nice...

I gave some gifts out with the express intention of getting a call. They’re fine people but they ain’t my friends. The relationship is transactional, period. Don’t kid yourself into thinking otherwise.

Have to agree in many ways IMHO just be polite to any store keeper, because thats all any AD is a store keeper, who sells Rolex watches for his/hers business nothing more.

Would have dropped a tin of chocolates for everyone in the store to share, but we went into a tier 4 lockdown with less than 24 hours warning so no chance to deliver them to the store.
Suppose I better eat them then.

I gave a modest gift to show appreciation for the outstanding service I've received. I don't do it to move me up any 'list' that may or may not exist - just a small "thank you" for a job well done.

I always try and bring something for the whole team a few day after getting a new watch to show thanks. Nothing big. Donuts and coffee or bagels. That said, I do the same thing at other businesses that treat me and my family well.

Depends, If you would like the AD to sell you a watch at MSRP that has close to and sometimes double that amount in market value, my answer would be yes. I have found and realized over the years that the more I give, more comes back to me.

Last I checked, I’m the customer, the one with the money. I buy the watches, and jewelry, they treat me well, I receive great service, an occasional promo item. My AD is doing fine with my business, and many other customers.

Lol, are you all sending gifts to your realtor, car SA, Dr, pharmacist, vet, local PD, FPD or are Watch S.A. the only ones treating you good. There was a time when the customer would get a thank you token.

Transactional and just being friendly aren't mutually exclusive. Yes, buying a nice bottle of scotch or wine for your sales person may help you get a watch, so there's some self-interest involved. However, if you have a good rapport with them and enjoy your interactions, it can also just be a nice gesture that they will appreciate on a human level. It's not either/or. Relationships make the world go around.

This may seem over-the-top, but I gave my AD a white SS Daytona. Not in the hopes that one day he will sell me one, but just because he's a great guy and I know that he too likes them.

My SA is great and all through out the year he sells me various watches, adjusts bracelets, handles service work if needed and advises me on purchases. His expertise is significant and his opinion carries a lot of weight with me. I give him a decent amount of cash at Christmas and will buy him gift cards to nice restaurants throughout the year. I appreciate his professionalism and his willingness to work with me as I am a demanding customer.

If one has a good reputation with the owner, then gifts year ‘round are exchanged, not solely during the holidays. SA’s come and SA’s go - but owners change only if the shop is sold. IMHO, the best gift is one that keeps giving - it is that of superior and profitable referrals. For my AD, that is a prospective buyer. In return, we share a transparent relationship without “payoffs”. It builds for the long term. It isn’t solely transactional but I’m also not looking for new watches but every 5 years or so. Sometimes we look at recent trade-ins together when they are interesting. But during this pandemic, I’ve only been by his shop once. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

This year I couldn’t due to the restrictions here.
To those who says it’s just a transactional relationship, that may be true for some but fir others like me, we actually have friendships outside the transaction |
