Heads up Rolex Price Increase in Japan
Probably doesn't apply to many on this forum, but just thought Ill give a heads up to anyone in Japan. Rolex prices are increasing on average 5% across the board starting August 1st. Not that this will really change anything, but 5% can be significant for higher priced items i suppose.

Should be a worldwide increase of 5% .
I welcome increases . The balance needs to be restored ,although it will take more than 5% .... |

It makes sense, especially with the consumption tax increase and weaker yen. They may be trying to avoid creating arbitrage opportunities for foreign buyers.

Price increases are futile in relation to everything else. It’s still way cheaper than market value, so won’t taper any demand and the market will just adjust for any increase. Resellers have to make their margins.

THIS
Price increases are futile in relation to everything else. It’s still way cheaper than market value, so won’t taper any demand and the market will just adjust for any increase. Resellers have to make their margins. I think Rolex should just raise thier prices 20%. That will help curb the gray market with the exception of a few piece like Daytona/Pepsi etc. I think most people have some sort of cutoff they are willing to pay for a SS mass produced watch. |

I never thought I would say, yeah, raise the frikken prices on Rolex but that’s today’s reality! It probably won’t help but it would be nice to think something might have a positive effect on supply?!

Feels like a CHF/JPY adjustment. If I were swiss based income, I'd make that tweak too especially as yen franc is now 5% less on average.

I suspect systematic and methodical increases in MSRP of Rolex models will actually INCREASE demand -- as secondary market prices will increase in lock step AND the notion of purchasing a Rolex as an investment or something that never loses value will be irreversibly cemented in the minds of potential luxury watch customers. If it were common practice for Rolex to increase prices by 5% every year, the insatiable demand for Rolex will reach heights that will make the current situation look tame in retrospect.

As I've said before, I wish they would raise the 116500 100% so I can say I paid retail.

I think eventually price increases will be world wide very soon, not only in Japan.

They should increase prices by 30% worldwide. After all, the market bears it, and it would hurt the grey more.

Stupid Tokyo Olympics. Now all the athletes are driving up prices by trading in their gold medals for Rolexes since it’s much harder to get a BNIB Rolex than it is to get an Olympic gold medal.

How on earth will it hurt grey more? They’ll raise prices. Whatever the cost, they work hand in hand with ADs.. it’ll only hurt real clients. F*** that.
