Sub 14060m on Phoenix Admiralty grey Nato
Is't this lovely ?
The strap is very thin (1mm), stiff, heat welded without stitches, with its engraved "Phoenix" polished stainless steel buckle. The stainless steel hardware is a plus, the fraying of the holes is a minus. Keep that in mind and give it a light if necessary ! A bit expensive, around 24€, but the MOD compliant color stands out ! It's the best grey you'll ever find. In French, we'd call it "Gris de fer bleuté" (bluish iron gray) the color of the WWI Poilu's garment. |

Nice combo, congrats.
I have the same one , then some others of Phoenix. They are good quality straps, I used to wear them a lot during the summer time on my Sub. |

Nice.
Now get rid of the strap keepers, trim the excess strap length and heat seal it, remove the double thickness under the case and it will look 10 times better. Trust me the head will not fall off.

Is there any difference in longevity being heat welded as opposed to sewn?

And yes do this. Sits even flatter once excess is removed underneath. Same great look but maybe better without the long tail. |

Not sure, original Government NATO specification was for heat welded and I think Pheonix have been making the G10 since 1978. I like the thin material these are made from - it makes them less bulky at the double thickness under watch head. CWC also make good NATO straps too. |

Looks great, big fan of the Nato.
Have a look at Timefactors Nato's, they have a grey that looks very similar. Made to the UK's MOD spec with welding. Their hardware, I feel, has a more distinctive look. https://www.timefactors.com/collecti...ato-strap-2014
