Thoughts on this 1601?
An acquaintance of mine recently came into this one but they're looking to move it along - they don't know vintage Rolex though, and my own knowledge is largely the Air King and Sub lines for vintage - any thoughts on this dial?
Not the best pic, but so far the only one he's gotten to send me: https://imgur.com/a/MfSBAbN |

The dial is referred as door stop or step dial.
Some damage clearly seen between the 6 and 7 o'clock. It would seem proper for the watch.. |

Step dial, thank you! Couldn't remember the term for the life of me and hadn't had a chance to hit the google roulette wheel yet! |

I don't anything about the watch other than I really like it!
I'm interested to hear what the dial is called. |

As noted, the OP dial is not a door-stop. I'm not sure what the OP wants to know, but it does appear to be a correct no-lume dial for a 1601.

Profound respect for all! This is the basic 1601 pie-pan "stick" dial. It's respectfully NOT a doorstop dial, the markers at 6 and 9 are wider, but not angled like the doorstop. The satin silver is the second-most common color, after champagne. It's correct, it's nice, it's acceptable, but it's not anything exotic or uncommon, again, with all due respect!

Shouldn't the hands also be no-lume with a no-lume dial? The hands seem to have lume in them, albeit old, darkly discolored lume.

There are various types of pie-pan dials...stick (as in the OP pic), doorstop, etc. Pie-pan just refers to the gutter (for want of a better word) around the edge.
