Icon20 Recommandations for First Rolly

All,

Looking to buy my first rolex :dude

Thinking about OP 39mm, is this a good investment??

My Budget is around or less than 10K

Any other recommendations or thoughts?

Recommendations? Buy what you like and will wear. Take a look at Rolex’s site - they have a configuration tool that lets you play with different OP and Datejust (also under 10k budget if you go with steel). Personal tastes differ, so it isn’t something the forum can help a lot with - find what speaks to you

For a first Rolex, I say Submariner No Date or Submariner Date. Go to your local AD, introduce yourself, discuss what watch you want and why then wait patiently until they call you 6 months to a year from now. Good luck

Also, as most watches have gain tremendous value, especially Rolex. Do not consider these investments. I don't at least. This is a hobby and if you're only buying because it's worth double, then I would reconsider. Having said that, welcome!

Welcome to the forum

The OP39 is a great first Rolex choice. Although they’re now discontinued I believe that you can still pick one up in the <$10K range. Best of luck and keep us updated!

My recommendation is to not refer to it as a Rollie.

If you are looking for an investment, a Rolex should be your last choice, unless you plan on flipping.

I would choose a 2003 Rolls Royce Phantom.

One of my favourites.

“Dude”.

You guys are Awesome! Absolutely Brilliant responses.

I am looking at this not only as an investment , but for personal use as well.

Steel is good as Gold 2 tones are not really my style.

Something Classic and not Flashy. That's why i was looking at OP.

Might consider Date Just as well but They have skyrocketed in prices for some reason.

Investment? There are better things to invest in than watches.

But at any rate, 10k won’t get you much in today’s watch world.

Maybe a used 36mm Explorer?

Recommandations for First Rolly

Based on your feedback, I would recommend saving up for Submariner or Explorer II through an AD (will require a wait).

If you want it right now, I would highly recommend a 39mm Explorer MK II (full lume). It will be your base “forever watch” and will never lose a penny.

Thank you very much. I will look into 39mm Explorer MK II as well. Believe it was on hot list on Chrono24

Welcome to the forums. I'd recommend the Sub (if you want a ceramic bezel) or Exp I (if you don't) as a first piece. OP and DJ are great too.

I would say buy Bitcoin. If your budget is 10k you’re not really investing in any watch. You’re buying a wrist toy that might be worth more later. If you have 200-300k, you might be able to talk about investable watches.

Highly recommend reading some threads and the rules. We are not a community of investors and don't give investment advice. We are into the brand and watches. So perhaps do as we do... buy with your heart not your investment in mind.
