If you could only add one of these ...

Hello members, your advice is appreciated for my next purchase. Looking at my current Rolex pieces, which are ALL keepers, which of these 2 do you think would best round out the collection?

Datejust 36, Blue dial, Fluted on Oyster with PCL, OR the

Speedy Pro Hesalite 1861, that I'll wear mostly on an aftermarket leather strap

I understand they are completely different. I have always wanted both watches, each for various reasons, so it's really a no lose situation for me. In the end, one day, I'll probably wind up with both, but that's no guarantee, so if you could only add one more, which would it be?

Speedy pro. I value diversity in a collection. That said, get the speedy if you like it. Many bring the collector mindset and that's simply accumulate and then what happens is one gets bored and flips/trades, as folks are really chasing the dopamine hit. I prefer a meaning based collection, a smaller collection of pieces that are meaningful in some way, have a story behind the purchase, etc. The others really never stick.

Speedy. You need a chronograph in that collection (which is beautiful too)

DJ, for me.

I have a Speedy and I rarely wear it. So, I have a negative bias.

It's kind of a toss up. If you were to put the DJ on a jubilee, then that by a lot. I don't think the oyster/fluted combo works all that well on a 36.

Probably the size. I usually wear my 34mm OP. At 42mm, it’s the largest piece I have.

I’m the same. Well, was the same. Tried several Speedies and none of them stuck around for more than a few months. It’s just not the watch for me.

To the OP: If you love the Speedy, I think it adds the most variety to your collection between the two options you’ve listed. That said, if it were me I’d be going after the DJ.

BTW: Really nice collection. And that Everest case looks great . They go great together.

If you're a chrono guy, get the speedy. I'm not, so I would get the DJ.

Message from OP

Wow, thank you for all the replies and votes so far. I knew it would be close, but not this close.

So far it's DJ36 = 40 votes and Speedy = 41 votes!

Wanted to mention a few more things ...
-WR is not a factor
-Speedy in question is the Hesalite 1861, on bracelet, but will be worn mostly on aftermarket leather straps

IMO, fluted should be on Jubilee. It doesn't pare good with Oyster.
