The need for a decent designation or job for the AD to consider?
I’m planning to visit Saudi Arabia next month. And I want to visit some of the ADs there, hopefully make a purchase of a DJ41, if available that is. My goal is to build a relationship with the ADs in order to purchase hot pieces in the future (Long term) given that I will be visiting the country at least once a year.
I’m aware that they’re going to be throwing a lot of questions at me in order to get to know me better. My question is if I have to be well designated at a company or anything similar in order to stand a chance to be their customer? Asking this because I’m a businessman in Sri Lanka, and of Sri Lankan nationality. How do I present myself to be a worthy customer? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Just tell them you're a legitimate businessman, unlike the ADs who sell in bulk to greys / flippers.

You should walk in, give the sales person a firm hand shake and say ‘I’m not a flipper I just my have heart set on a Rolex, preferably one with the greatest resale value because I’m all about the investment aspect of Rolex watches’. The salesman or woman will eat that up and you’ll be a forever customer of theirs.

From my experience, just focus on having a good conversation and showing them that you are an enthusiast. Worked for me.

I would just be your authentic self, honest about your interest, and check in on a recurring basis.

Good luck and welcome. I hate to be 'that guy' but I don't think you stand a chance of getting a new 41mm DJ, there is a lot of money in Saudi, and probably one of the worst places to pick starting out with Rolex.
There's a common theme I've noticed on this forum, and my SA said it to me last time I was visited the store, relationships aren't always about buying things every visit. Spending money and also just stopping by to chat goes a long way. I think it's like 80% spending history, 20% personality. For you, it's hard to do that from a foreign country. Of course, do try and see if you get lucky. I would go in with your significant other / family, forget the professional businessman approach, and be personable. Make yourself standout from the 1,000 other rich single males looking for a Rolex they dealt with that month. |

This x100. Being a decent down-to-earth and genuine enthusiast who visits occasionally (but doesn’t bug them) makes a difference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If they ask you about your job, it’s just their way of screening out flippers. Standard SOP at ADs and as long as you don’t say you flip watches for a living, you are fine.
