Watchfinder
HI Guys
Do anyone have experience deal with watchfinder ? I have offer from watchfinder ( subject to inspection , initial offer is between € 18,500 and € 19,000 ) for my LV kermit ( year 2009 , full set , unpolished , like new ,excellent condition ). It seem it is great offer as I have checked with local dealer , their offer is only €16,000 cash or bank transfer immediately . And I have dealt this dealer before and there was smooth and no hassle but just this time is €3,000 less than watchfinder For watchfinder I need to post the watch to them in my own expenses ( appox. €200 and need to wait for their inspection and wait for final offer and wait for money transfer .... Any opinion will be highly appreciated Thanks in advance |

They have 4 for sale at the moment, from 19-23k gbp. So you are being offered around -15% from retail. Seems fair.

All I can say is from an experience my Dad made when selling them an old watch of his. They are very nice and friendly, but their process is extremely slow.

The process takes all of 2/3 days to get the watch there, and then maybe a week once they have it (then 3/4 days for the transfer). You will receive a text when they have received the watch so you’ll know it’s there fine. It’s difficult as it’s your watch and not mine, but like I say I’ve dealt with them both buying and selling and they are generally pretty good to deal with. |

Have had a great experience with Watchfinder over the years both buying and selling. I have always found them easy and quick to deal with. Last time I sold I got £14k in my account in three working days from submitting the online form and taking the watch to their local office. That's a particularly good turn around, it may take a few days more depending on transfer time etc. I always use them because it's nearly zero risk and I now know exactly what to expect each time. Can't put a price on peace of mind.

Watchfinder are a big UK company, you should have no issues from them (as long as you are dealing direct, just watch out for dodgy links)

I was wondering if you need to pay import duties/tax when you ship your watch to Watchfinder (UK base?). But watchfinder is the importer so WF should bear the import duties if there is any. Well, i am not sure.
i dealt with WF several times and they always offered free collection by DHL, insured. In general, no issue at all, although they have to take longer time as they need around 1 week for inspection. |

Watchfinder are owned by Richemont, so you will have no issues with everything being above board. I have used them numerous times and they are good to deal with.

I've bought and sold numerous watches from Watchfinder, from 3k Tudors up to a BLNR on Jubilee last month (sold) and quite a lot in between!
The price they offer on Part exchanges is fair, and they offer a free (fully insured) DHL next day collection service on watches I've sent to them which is hassle free. They’ve always paid me the higher amount on the range they quote and the watches I've bought from them have been in great condition and well presented. And no, I'm not on commission before anyone asks! |

Both myself and a couple of friends have used Watchfinder and it's always been a flawless transaction.
The only issue I've heard of was when one of my friends bought a piece that he felt wasn't quite in as good condition as he was expecting, but Watchfinder instantly agreed to a full refund. So in terms of a transaction it was exactly what you want from a company when you have an issue.

Between the low/high where Watchfinder quote. For outright sale, when they offer final offer , any negotiation ?
Thanks |

Hi - I sold two watches to Watchfinder last year - i am UK based so i was able to take the watches into a store (which probably makes it easier and safer - but they do offer a fully insured courier collection service) There initial offer was based on an online quote - which offered a lot more than any of the High St retailers who also claim to buy watches - for example: Watchfinder offered £3000 more than Watches of Switzerland for my Hublot! After they took the watches from me to examine, they did reduce their offer on the Hublot, only by £200 (which was fair enough as there were some scratches on it) They honoured their initial offer on the other watch (which was an omega) The whole process with Watchfinder was professional and painless and i would highly recommend them

It’s hassle free and not the best way to make the max amount, but it will save you the trouble of dealing with unknown people handling large sums of cash…

You can always negotiate the highest within the offer range, but it depends on the market. I was once offered the lowest at the beginning of COVID. However, I was also offer the upper range often. |

I have bought several watches from them (Switzerland). Like in every companies, some employees are better than others.
It always went great. I have still some watches in my to-buy list and would consider them again. (But with todays prices I am on hold.) |

I've had vastly different bids from Watchfinder which have left me scratching my head a little.
I am looking to sell one piece out of 3 to make room for an incoming, Watchfinder offers vs other trade offers as below; Piece one - WF £4750, other £3500 Piece two - WF £3000, other £11500 Piece three - WF £2000, other £3000 So either 35% more or 70% less than competitors! |
