I’m biased because I have a black dial DJ but even if I didn’t, the Wimbledon just isn’t attractive to me. Honestly, it’s my least favorite DJ dial by far.
But that’s just me |

Much prefer black or white in DJ and DD. I find Wimbledon to be downright ugly.

Wimbledon 100%
I am biased as I have a DJ Wimbledon 41mm, but I like that fact it’s different. The slate dial looks amazing in the sun as well. |

It depends on what you already have … I like both, but I already have a Black Dial Submariner and a Black Dial Daytona, so I am seeking a DJ 41 w/ Fluted Bezel w/ Slate Dial w/ Green Roman numerals (Wimbledon).
If you do not already have a Black Dial / SS watch, then the Black Dial DJ is very sharp looking … but I would agree with some of the above … take a look at it with the WG Fluted Bezel. I feel like someone should be posting pictures by now !!! |

The black dial is a classic and could be a cornerstone of a collection for years. I would go with the jubilee bracelet and the fluted bezel for the classic look. Save the oyster for another sport model and have a couple to choose from.

I'd pick the black. Wimbledon does nothing for me.

Black for me. Never been a huge Wimbledon fan with that lonely 9 marker. Just looks out of place.
Recommend to also check the white and blue dials, but those may be a little more difficult to locate. |

Smooth bezel with oyster seems to work better with the classic black dial IMO

Wimbledon dial is typically the most polarizing DJ dial. Most either see it as a convoluted mess, or as the hands-down best of the bunch. So you are in the minority to be torn between it and another choice.
I would suggest trying to see all your choices in person (even if the size is different). The Wimbledon has traits you can't see in the pics. Same with blue, white silver, slate, etc. Black is more or less black though. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

I never liked the Wimbledon dial until I saw it in person. I must say that I’m a fan. However, I voted black. It really depends on what other watches you have. If you don’t have a black dial already, then I’d prefer that.
Also, for me, the bezel is the most important aspect of the DJ. You got to get the fluted bezel. After that, there are a bunch of dials I’d be happy with. I went with the silver dial simply because I already had 2 black dial watches, and 1 blue dial watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It really depends if the watch is supposed to fit a specific purpose or role within your collection. If you’re just looking for a classic GADA watch you can’t beat a black dial DJ. I prefer the fluted/jubilee combo but the configuration you’re considering is very versatile.

Honestly the slate/rhodium dial color is my favorite, but I don't like the Wimbledon version of it.

To me the there are many great dial options for the DJ but fluted on jubilee is a must. The quintessential Datejust.
