Tudor Pelagos Lume Marker Gone?

I was looking through some old post and seen this has happened to some other users. I have this watch coming in this week I spoke with the seller and he said he took it to his local AD and they wanted to charge him for a bezel replacement? I’m going to try my local AD when it comes in. This doesn’t seem to happen often.

Card Dated 09/2018

Look at 3 o’clock

Yes the pip in the ceramic bezels on Rolex watches sometimes come out, but on the Rolex bezel pip can be replaced not sure with Tudor inserts.

Well quite a few posts on forum about the Rolex ceramic pips coming out, they are just blobs of lume paint in a sapphire dome cover.

It seem the OP is referring to the missing long marker at 15mins rather than the present “pip”.

There are quite a few reports on bezel lume markers coming off. Apart from the 3 o'clock marker, the pip on the photo also looks recessed while it should be flush. Not sure of it's just the photo or actually missing material.

Thanks for sharing!

It took me a while to understand the issue mentioned.

Immediately went to check my Pelagos blue and glad to see that my bezel is fine.

So the bezel need to be replaced? It can’t be re-lumed?

New bezel from Tudor. I have seen a few of these and my AD said they have handled a few.

This sort of issue was seen on 2-liners Pelagos, it's very rare on 5-liners. Probably the second or third event I've read of.

I'm not 100% I'm going to take it to my AD and see what they have to say about it.

I know all of the older posts I was looking at were 2-liners.

Okay, it should be covered under warranty right?

When did they start doing the 5yr warranty?

I don't recall having seen this on in-house Pelagos models, but admittedly only really checked to see if it was happening to the blue variants. Always thought it was kind of cool that the inserts were their own little piece of material, rather than painted indentations.

This happened to me the day I bought my peli from my AD. Returned it the following day and was given a replacement watch, no questions asked.

Did they explain to you that they see it often?

You're right, but I think the pip has also fallen out. I had this happen to a Pelagos. You can tell because the lume pip isn't completely flush like it is when intact.

If you looked at the bezel lumed up you would immediately see.

Good catch! Now that you say that, it does look sunken in.

I wonder if these inserts are made in Switzerland.

That’s an optical illusion. The brain struggles with telling the difference between concave and convex shapes viewed square on (assuming they are relatively shallow compared to viewing distance). Broadly speaking this is because the 3D perception comes from the shadowing, and a concave shape illuminated from one direction displays the same shadowing as a convex shape illuminated from the other direction.

For the watch it seems the pip is protruding because the shadowing on the pip (left hand more shaded) matches the rest of the watch, which is presumably protruding towards the camera.

Why are you buying a watch with a bezel fault? Would it not be easier to buy another?

If the price was very good then leave as is if the warranty declines to replace it for free

Still delayed (FedEx) won't be here until Monday that is what paying for Priority overnight gets you. It was shipped out on the 28th...

That’s an improvement, the bezel inserts used to fall out.
