Appears to be a reissue of a discontinued model from a few years ago. But with a updated movement. GS maybe testing the waters with this limited edition. Perfect size and thickness for a nice dress piece.

little bit different I think—the striping on the dial appears to be curved in this one.

Same case and movement, different dial (compared to SBGY003).

Years ago they had that swirl dial in a automatic. Seen it on one of the watchfinder videos. Beautiful watch in any case.

I’ve been waiting for an SBGY003 near-sibling for 3 years now. And finally here it comes.

The dial, thanks to its purity, is fantastic. It is swirled as mbalmz pointed. It is also greyish and the seconds’ hand is grey, which is quite (not completely) unique for GS. Thanks to that it will be a strap monster.

Price in EUR - 9.200.

It truly sucks that we're not getting this in the States. This is like the perfect dress watch for me.

Fully share your view on the perfect watch.

On the other hand you may have an idea of what we feel here in Europe each time there is a special LE for the US.

Do you mean 3 pcs in one of the ADs, right?

I guess what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Why it's perfect for me is because of several things:

1. Size. At 39mm (rounded up), it's not dainty like the 36mm dress models, and at 10mm thick (rounded down), it's the right slimness without being gimmicky thin. Too often GS's are too thick, but they got this one right.

2. Dial. I know there are some that are sticklers for what a dress watch should or should not be. Often they talk of simplicity, sometimes going as far as 2 hands only, and a simple dial. Think Saxonia Thin or Calatrava 6119. These are beautiful watches, but for me, too plain.

This GS has the swirl pattern which gives it visual impact. But it's not festooned with subdials. It isn't an annual or perpetual calendar. It's not a moonphase. Within the simplicity of the dial, there is also visual interest. Plus the color makes a more muted approach to the pop of the texture. It think it strikes the perfect balance.

3. Technology. I think a dress watch should mean technologically backward. Yes, you can make improvements to watch movements within a dress watch, but more likely, you will find a tried and true movement. Perhaps there is better finishing of the reliable movement, more anglage and perlage, chamfering, etc.

But the Spring Drive is really a "new" type of technology (please, don't want to get spammed by the "new" designation...but hopefully you know what I mean). Highly accurate. Innovative. And that sweep seconds hand would be mesmerizing with this dress watch.

Anyway, this is why I see this as a perfect dress watch.
