16233 bracelet with removable links on only one side

Hey all,

My Dad recently gave me his datejust, reference 16233. I started sizing it for my wrist, and realized that there was only one removable link on the 6 o’clock side, while there are a bunch on the 12 o’clock side. As a result, the clasp is quite off centered, and if I do any more adjusting (I’m between sizes right now so may move the clasp anchoring point further in), it’ll be even more off centered.

I don’t have much knowledge about older references, but is this normal? Am I missing something to get around this? Or should I just accept it the off center clasp as part of the 90s Rolex charm?

Thanks!

Step 1 - remove the bracelet from the watch.

Step 2 - flip the bracelet so the 6 oclock side is now the 12 o'clock side

Step 3 - refit the bracelet to the watch

You now have 6 fixed links at 6 and 9 fixed links at 12

Step 4 - remove the clasp by unscrewing the bracelet screws closest to the fixed link

Step 5 - flip the clasp 180 degrees and refit to the bracelet

Step 6 - remove/relocate the removable links to size the bracelet correctly and position the clasp.

You now have the clasp correctly orientated and 6 fixed links at 6 and 9 fixed links at 12

Step 7 - size the bracelet according to preference.

Point to note: You position the clasp relative to the watch head by adjusting the length of the 6 o'clock side. Then adjust the length of the 12 o'clock side depending upon how tight or loose you want the bracelet to be

HTH

It doesn't matter what it looks like when you are hanging it from your fingertips, it has to fit your wrist.

There are almost always fewer links on the 6 side than the 12 for a proper fit
