2004 Rolex 118238 K Day-Date Black Dial Unpolished Safequeen DD36 Box & Papers
For sale is an unpolished “safequeen” 36mm 18 karat yellow gold Rolex Day-Date “President”. The K serial 118238 was originally retailed in November of 2004 by a San Martin authorized dealer, and is accompanied by its original boxes and papers. Included in the Box and Papers set are: the an outer box, a green leather inner box, the original dated warranty paper, a red hologram hang tag, a green leather Rolex card holder, a green leather Rolex notebook wallet with two unused pads of luxurious Rolex paper, and two instruction manuals.
The Day-Date features a polished yellow gold case, which is accented by a fixed fluted yellow gold bezel. The Rolex is mounted on its original solid yellow gold 83858 “heavy” President bracelet, which is secured by a hidden deployment clasp. The 83858 bracelet is stamped with a “DT1” clasp code, which corresponds with a production date of January 2002. The President bracelet contains 20 full size links, and will comfortably fit a 7.15 inch wrist. The Rolex features a black sunburst dial with applied polished yellow gold stick hour markers, polished gold luminous hands, a magnified date window aperture at 3 o’clock, and a day window aperture at 12 o’clock. The movement used in the 118238 is the Rolex double quickset Calibre 3155, which features approximately 48 hours of power reserve, and is running exceptionally well. Condition wise, the Day-Date has been preserved exceptionally well, and has acquired a gorgeous heavy rose gold colored oxidation on its yellow gold components from spending nearly 20 years in a safe. The bracelet contains ZERO stretch, while the coronet on the clasp is as crisp as it was when it left the factory. Furthermore, the clasp on the bracelet is still “sticky” to open / close due to having only been tried on a handful of times, while the case still retains its original caseback sticker. Overall the 118238 is a true safequeen, and a stunning untouched early example, which happens to also be a complete set , and is by far one of the nicest examples of an untouched 118238 that is currently available for purchase ! Shall deliver for $23,500 * All serial numbers on the watch and papers are fully visible, but have been blurred in the photos for security purposes.
