The Crown Has Left The Building

After 44 Years of continued ownership, I no longer own a Rolex watch as just sold my Datejust 1601. I don't feel sad or have any regret, as people on TRF said I would when I sold my other three Rolex watches back in July of last year. The only Rolex watch that I would like to buy is Submariner 126613LN and since my local AD, whom I had history with, is no longer a Rolex AD, that seems somewhat off. Next watch will be a Tudor Black Bay 58 79030B. Cheers and very glad Dry January is finally over.

I have great news for you! Since you unloaded your watches and potentially have some cash around, and want the TT black sub and lost your AD, check this out from another thread!

That’s a beautiful looking DJ Dan, but as you say no regrets.

Good luck on the Submariner purchase

I had had it since 2009 and was simply not wearing it anymore. After wearing Black Bay watches for the past seven years it just felt too small and delicate. Guy who bought it on eBay is very pleased so every cloud!

You may consider a SD43. Substantial but more comfortable than my Submariner. Compare and decide.

I had a Submariner 16610LV which I wore pretty much every day for six years. Comfort was never an issue. Cheers.

Congrats on 44 long years. You've been there and done that. Enjoy the many other flavors of watch-wearing.

My mum used to say it was evolution . Her father was from the South of France and from the photos I have seen, he definitely had a Moor heritage, so we all tanned very nicely in the Summer.

oh man... if i owned a watch that long, I certainly wouldn't be selling it for a new one. what you had was full of history and character. That datejust is very nice. Had the bracelet become too flimsy, you could still change to a leather strap.

well it's gone now, so probably shouldnt' dwell too long about it. hope you set some new wonderful memories with your new(er) watches then.

Is the spread for your Sub on the grey that much more over MRSP? Why settle, get what you desire.

I only had the Datejust since 2009. The watch was serviced in 2009 by RSC Bexley and had a new white dial and Jubilee bracelet fitted. I have only worn it a few times since then so bracelet was as new with no stretch whatsoever. The entire watch looks brand new.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Rolex & Tudor. It's just I had three 4 digit references that I no longer wore and one 5 digit that was worth so much I no longer felt comfortable wearing it in public.

I can relate. I’m more a “watch guy” than a “Rolex guy.” I’ve had a dozen Rolex since my first bought in 1984 but there’s been several gaps of years when I owned none. The three I have now are the most I’ve ever had at the same time and no real plans to add or liquidate at this moment.

I’ve had a few. Always felt they were just a bit small. My 38mm Tudor is spot on.
