An offering of hope for the hunt…

Long time lurker, first time poster…

I have quite a few occasions worth commemorating this year, and decided a few months ago that a watch would be the perfect way to commemorate the occasions. I narrowed the scope to Rolex fairly quickly, but my nearest AD is 2 hours away. I walked in yesterday expecting to finally narrow my scope to a specific model and size (I was thinking OP, DJ, or Explorer I). This was my first time darkening the door, and I was offered a couple of references of the DJ after a wonderful conversation with the sales associate. I walked out with a 41mm DateJust, silver dial, fluted bezel, on a jubilee bracelet. I was blown away that they had availability. He admitted that the more vibrant dials on the 41mm would be tougher to come by, and I’m also aware that most folks reading this are probably on the hunt for the higher-end of the product line (or a more specific and less-common DJ variant).

That said, I am absolutely blown away by this piece. I’m not sure I could’ve dreamt up a better first Rolex to commemorate an inflection point in my life. A true classic. I certainly plan to keep it forever.

Congrats on scoring your first Rolex! Fluted, jubilee is a classic and a great all around daily watch. Enjoy it and wear it in good health.

If you have truly been a longtime lurker then you know that we LOVE pics around here. Let's see em!

Great luck to find this model for a first Rolex, most people stop right there.

I've walked in and purchased several Datejusts during the drought. When someone walks in and gets a Sub or GMT then I'll start to believe "It's happening." Been offered two more that I turned down, plus an SD.

Still, it's the correct thing to do when building history with an AD. I'd buy even more DJs but wifey doesn't want any more! (Good problem to have )
