Trade discontinued 2023 116515 for 2023 116519?

I’m about to trade my recently discontinued 2022 116515 for a 2023 116519 silver dial.

I think the 515 is a very pretty watch but feel the 519 silver dial is a much easier watch to wear as an everyday watch.

This is the message I just sent to my friend.

My watch dealer has just offered me a straight swap for a 2023 116519 silver dial.

The way I’m looking at at is, I get the watch I want save 2.5k, although my watch has the potential to go up in value, I feel it’s worth doing the trade, hopefully my dealer does good out of the deal as well, nobody knows where the prices will settle.

Would you do the deal?

I love my 116515LN and they just discontinued the chocolate dial, so for me no. It is a more unique dial in the collection versus black, white, silver etc and is versatile as a more dressy piece if need be. Having said that the silver dial is also georgous and would be my second choice :) good.luck!

I’d prefer the 519 so think this is a good trade.

If you love it go for it, I had a 519 and it was an amazing everyday watch. I wanted to move to RG, got the 515 and never looked back and wear that almost daily. It is a tad under the radar, but everything just works together and it is just an amazing watch. You really can't go wrong with either.

Do not look at value, look at which you will wear/love/enjoy

515 always looks nicer in the watch case for 519 easier to wear and match in real life. If you like the 519 dial better, I'd go for it! always nice to get a newer watch by year and save on the eventual incremental watch service costs IMHO.

Although I'm not sure 515 dial you have. If it's black or sundust I might be closer to a 50/50 decision. Either way, I much prefer the now outgoing generation of bezels versus the new bezels, so lock it in!!!

I think it's a good trade, but I am not a rose gold guy...

I have a 116519LN and wear it often - the silver dial and black subdials are stunning and as you already know, it's very comfortable. The white gold / silver dial pops like crazy but is still under the radar. I say go for it, I like it much better than the rose gold. My wife on the other hand wants a rose gold OF for herself!

What dial is in your 515? Hopefully not this beauty below

How does the 2.5k come into play? Are you referring to a recent price increase?

FWIW I have a Chocolate 515 and turned down the 116519 a few weeks ago from my A D. Yeah I know (gasp) But I do not want 2 on OF before I get 1 on full bracelet.

Plus imo the Grey dial 519 is everywhere. Not to mention Rolex kept it in production for 2023 and changed nothing. Well other than the new OF models having the Glidelock.

I don't mind wearing rose gold on OF. To me the OF tones it down, but I can understand if others don't feel that way.
If you want the WG version then it's a good trade for you

It does have the chocolate dial, the 2.5k came into play because the dealers wanted between 2.5-3k on top to do the trade a few days ago before the 515 chocolate got discontinued.

I backed out at the last minute, I couldn’t go through with the deal, I felt the warm tones of RG with the chocolate dial was nicer than the W/G on my wrist.

Cant go wrong with either one. I personally prefer the 519, but the 515 is also a stunner.

Oooof, I wouldn't get rid of that chocolate dial. Especially immediately after its being discontinued. But, if you likes the white gold ...
