1962 5512 PCG Pricing Advice
Hi all,
I am seeking advice on the pricing of a 1962 5512 PCG that has had a recent Rolex service, case has been polished and a new service insert has been installed by Rolex. They chucked the original bezel . It has the original gilt exclamation point dial and hands which have not been relumed. It has its original box and full papers. It also retains its original 1962 7206/80 rivet bracelet. I am unable to post photos of the watch due to being fresh to market. Would a price under 20k usd be reasonable to pay? Depending upon condition that feels like a good price to me. Correct inserts are available.

Undervalued a bit at that imho…. Retail are about 1/3 more….I’d say $20k is original dial/hands 65-69 mtrs first (non gilt silver hands) on a 7206, and gilt exclamation about 1/3 more if not heavily cracked dial…bit of polishing/case wear and all that wouldn’t fuss me.

If a watch retails for $20k what would it typically be sold between dealers for?

I’m not a dealer, but have done a lot of stuff for/with C24/Watchfinder etc etc.
Retail to trade difference is typically circa 18-25% (hitting 30+ on expensive pieces eg 6263/65), but dealer to dealer lot less as both parties clued-up wanting and both something fresh out of it. Of course, some dealer to dealer swaps generate no profit, but freshen up the stock and moves those sticky pieces that dealers have had 180 days plus (the capital churn rate there is poorish 2, or @ twice x times a year, which many dealers try to avoid). Churn rates are an interesting exercise to consider, and that even some seasoned dealers don’t fully appreciate I’ve found , instead concentrating on individual item(s) profit over total combined/churned profit. Eg a simple example - a 6% profit on say four £5k Watches shifted in a month*, is of course better than one £5k watch getting 20% profit in 120 days as you’ve only tied up 4x £5k capital recurring for 30 days and you’ve 90 days extra timeframe to buy/move other pieces to add to your circa £1000 profit…. *That's notwithstanding additional marginal, not fixed, Mktg/selling costs, the opportunity cost or 'use' of extra £15k capital for a month, and making use of sales of other pieces in the extra 90 days.

The value depends on the condition.

Without pictures nobody can advise you other than just throwing a number out. Having said this.....If the dial is a 9/10 or 10/10 with no blemishes (2 line or 4 line ?) and it has all papers and all you need is a correct polish and bezel insert......in the past few years I've seen them sell for 45-75k (mint full sets). if there is any defects whatsoever in the dial or other issues the price drops to the 15k-20k range imho

As mentioned you need to post pictures that’s the only way you can get accurate feedback

Difficult to give guidance without pictures to assess condition.
