quoting only part of a post?

can someone explain how you only quote part of a person's post, rather than their whole post when responding?

I'll give it a try though. Copy and paste this.... [/QUOTE] (note, this should be in upper case) .... from the end of the quote or simply type it in as shown, at the place you want the quote to end, then delete the text after that.

1. Hit quote Button.
2. highlight the part you don't want to quote.
3. hit delete
