What to wear: Attending a Wedding? In a Wedding?
So, in October I am attending one wedding and am an usher in another wedding. Which of the below should I wear to which wedding? I'll wear a dark blue suite most likely to the wedding that I am guest at. And I will be in a black tux/cummerbund/tie and white shirt for the wedding that I am in. Thoughts?

For the guest wedding, any of the above.
For the tux wedding, none of them. |

Thoughts?
Sorry, Ben, I can't help you here at all. I am not a slave to fashion and have worn either a GMT or a Submariner no matter what the occasion. To me they are not fashion accessories. Good luck and enjoy the weddings.

I think you'll be fine wearing which ever watch you choose. I seriously doubt anyone will gasp and point at your Sub peeking out from under your shirt cuff!

I would wear any of the above with a suit or a tux. Those watches look so great and having it stand out is a good thing (IMHO).

I disagree about the Tux wedding. Any nice Rolex is appropriate. I wore my Pepsi GMT with my tux when I got married.....IMHO it goes just fine with formal wear.
I'm glad I did too, I've wore my watch for almost every significant event in my life since 1985. I was wearing it when I met my wife to be, I was wearing it when I proposed, I was wearing it when my first child was born, then my second. I've wore it in many a friends wedding when I was in the wedding party. I've wore it when we bought and sold houses, taken new jobs, been promoted, celebrated birthdays & anniversarys, and even wore it recently as a pall bearer in a funeral. I think it adds to the back story and the sentimental value of the watch, something I hope my kids will value when one if them gets it. Pick your favorite and wear it with pride.

You know, I really dont think its at all up to you or this Forum body to help you decide. You need to talk to the women first; dont even show up to this thing without talking to the "Main Fembots" regarding "what to wear" ~ its a dangerous road, especially bein in a wedding !
Now, you need to acknowledge that you have been so advised by the WISnut Advocates and that you will act accordingly as directed by the laws bound by the WISnuts and their Spouses ! PS - this really "creeps" me out ! But I might kinda likit ! |

To me a watch is a watch and you should wear just what you like to a wedding or any other function.Would doubt if anyone will be looking at your watch only perhaps another WIS.

It's common courtesy to not draw attention away from the bride and groom, so you don't want to "outshine" them.
That said, your watch will most likely be hidden from view given the attire, so it really doesn't matter what you wear. |

I'd wear the black dial black bezel sub or gmt with the jubilee bracelet with the Tux.I personally think the jubilee bracelet is a little more dressy than the Oyster bracelet.
With the suit, a pepsi bezel will look just fine or, any of them for that matter.Think your next purchase should be a TT model! |

I think the black dial subs look nice with a suit. The GMT is too sporty IMO. For the TUX, I'd be thinking about a day date or at least DJ.

You need to get yourself a dress watch. I doubt you have to sell one considering your collection, so just go buy one.
You can get an 18k Audemars, IWC, VC or whatever for less then 2k on a strap and then when you need to get dressed up you'll be all set. Besides, everyone could use one more watch. Just think of all the fun you'll have picking out just the right one for you. There are so many choices out there in just a plain manual wind or auto 14k/18k dress watch, have some fun, look around and it will create a memory. I bought such a such a watch for this wedding.. Go on ebay and take a look, and you really don't have to worry to much about a fake 1950 manual wind 18k Omega.....There just isn't a market for it. Good luck and have some fun.
