I was at my local pawn shop yesterday and they had for sale a Coke bezel GMT Master II with the Stick numerals.

Is this a highly sought after watch now? If so, could this be a possible investment (like a Red Submariner)?

Not in the least. The internet perpetuated the myth about the stick numerals more than anything. When I bought my D serial GMT II, numersous AD's had the exact same watch. It is nothing more than one of the three different variants of the font for the dial.

Have to agree 100% and anyone paying a premium price must be sixpence short of a shilling same for goes the 3186 version.

I heard that the 3186 versions were changing hands at something like 2k sterling above list. Seems pretty crazy for a blue spring

The stick numerals are no guarantee of a 3186 movement inside. The only way to check is to take the back off.

Here is the "regular" version which uses Roman numerals for the II. Slight font variation - around for years. The excitement was caused by some of the last stick dials housing the new parachrom spring movement. The stick dial is "rarer" in the sense of their being fewer around but this does not mean that they are any more valuable or collectable than the regular Roman font - I am sure they are not. However, a stick dial with the new parachrom spring movement may be more collectable and a better future investment - no rational reason for this, it's just the way collectors are. But no way would I pay extra for one - seems a bit crazy. I like my GMT with that old trusty workhouse the 3185 inside.

...Fast forward 14 years later...any change of options of which dial is more collectable or sought after? I'm ISO a 16710 ref now.
