GMT Master bracelet question
Hello everyone,
When did the sides of the GMT bracelet start to come polished from the factory? Also, were there some years when the GMT Master came with a Submariner style clasp with the dive extension? I have seen a couple GMTs with this clasp. thanks, Ian |

It depends on the bracelet that came on the GMT... You would have to go back to the very early days to find bracelets that were not polisihed on the sides..
As far as the "Submariner style clasp".... No... the GMT was available with the 93150 bracelet for much of it's production run... it is the exact same bracelet as used on the Sub including the flight-suit extension; - it does not have polished sides.

Interesting. So you could just have the AD change the bracelet at purchase time? Was this an option up until the ceramic GMT replaced the traditional style?
Any idea when this option started? And this was sold as a "flight-suit extension" rather than a dive extension even though it was identical? -Ian |

There was a time that an AD would put any bracelet on that you wanted... but you could order a GMT Master with the 93150 Oyster bracelet since the bracelet first came out right up until the GMT Master was discontinued in 1999.. I would say that within the past 10 years, AD's have not modified a Rolex for the customer at all.... and so, no, you couldn't just get one put on in recent years..

Dealers could order GMT II's with the 93150 Submarine bracelet. This bracelet has a satin finish on the sides of the links and the diver's extension. If your GMT II came with the Submariner band, your warranty paper will be coded in the style number and would end in 9315, which indicates a Submariner band.
The other GMT II band, style number 78790, looks like the Submariner band clasp, but does not have the diver's extension. Also, the sides of the links are polished. I've owned two or three GMT's with the 93150 Submariner band. The 78790 band is the most common variation of Oyster band found on GMT II's. Before the 78790 band, the 78360 band was used on GMT's thru the mid to late 1980's.
