Rolex is a great brand that just hits the sweet spot of the market. Incredible marketing, robust products, widely recognized, and in general quite affordable for most folks. Most folks are not going to be able to enter the PP or AP world much less Richard Mille or the high horology independents.

Rolex is Porsche. It is not Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti, etc.

That's luxury in a nutshell. Needs to be affordable to us commoners but also give a sense of feeling special despite mass production.

Got back from Vegas, felt almost a visceral disgust at how many Rolexes I saw

lol

This thread still cracks me up.

I think the OP had a visceral overreaction. There are many other things in this world to be legitimately disgusted by.

Good point … so we’ve decided it’s safe to wear your Rolex … at least somewhere

I try not to worry about what watches other people wear and just focus on what I like.

Depends on where you. Inside Harrah's or Circus Circus, probably not many fine Swiss watches.

Inside the high limit salon at Wynn or Encore, Rolex is going to be low end of what you will see.

Security is tight inside the casinos. Walking around outside on the Strip, you won't see as many flashy watches especially not on short sleeves.

Last time I was in Vegas, I walked all over downtown rocking my bluesy like this

And I looked frickin' awesome.

Singapore and HK are not "the hub for replicas". The 2nd hand market is very active, and people there, rich or less rich, feel proud wearing a nice watch, it's a culture thing, same as owning gold and jade. They would never be caught with a fake watch. You will spot older taxi drivers wearing a DJ, but they probably sacrificed and saved a long time, in order to proudly wear it.

As for Bali, in crowded tourist spots, I only see smartwatches, in high-end resorts maybe a few Rolex, and other brands. Same as other resorts in other countries.

I'd say Rolex is more Mercedes to Omega's BMW and Grand Seiko's Lexus.

I didn’t have a chance to go to the bank so I will be wearing a humble Cartier Santos.

Congrats for you! You have been cured. I always thought there was no remedy or therapy available for the Rolex virus.

I love seeing Rolexes everywhere.

yesterday I was at the Best Buy and the speaker we were buying needed to be price matched, and the young manager who came to approve it had a two tone datejust 41 with diamond dial and chocolate dial. I loved it.

It’s cool that you still love Rolex but found a new appreciation for the non-Rolex watches.

That would be a sought after model number.

Going to Vegas soon. Will wear my Patek instead of my rolexes to feel even more visceral disgust at the poors.

I am more surprised you did not feel visceral disgust of Vegas itself!

I would never go to Las Vegas number one. I also rarely notice what watches people are wearing from afar, unless Im talking with them one on one. Scanning peoples watches like that would make me dizzy. Maybe thats why you felt ill?

This.

It's pretty cool to see other Rolex watches in the wild that are meant to be worn. Not kept locked up away in a safe or whatever right.
