That sucks, OP. Glad it worked out for you, though. Screw that AD, IMO. They obviously forget what service is.
I get rules are rules, but there is a difference between being policy guided and policy bound. They are obviously policy bound. Hell with them. |

When you arrive home and are available to go to the store, I would call them and see if it’s still there…I think it will be.

I paid for a watch. Took me almost a month to pick it up. I wonder why they wouldn’t just let you pay for it and pick it up when you can.

It's a watch, a commodity to sell, that's all it is, don't make it more than it is. Nevertheless it is a very popular watch from a very popular brand, you ask for one - the store gets one in, your name is top of the list but you cannot get there to collect so what is the store to do? I wouldn't be surprised if the store had more than half a dozen people waiting and I bet most of them would drop anything to get that watch, if I was the store I'd ring number two on the list when number 1 was unable to commit. Stores are in business to sell watches not to pander to our whims. You want the watch, then make yourself available to collect it. Oh and before you accuse me of not understanding the situation I have 5 and bought my last one 3 months ago.

People travel for business and pleasure. ADs need to take that into consideration. No one knows when they will get “the call”, so therefore customers may not be able to pick up their desired Rolex, at a moment’s notice. They should allow prepayment, by phone, or allow someone the customer chooses, to pick it up for him/her, or wait a reasonable amount of time for pick up, until the customer returns home. That would simply be providing decent customer service. If what happened to the OP had happened to me, I would find a new AD.

Update: Plane landed, called the SA from the airport (a few minutes away down the Turnpike) "Watch is still here if you want to try it on but it is getting picked up this afternoon" ... LOL - The good news is I am #1 on the list for when another one becomes available.
I'm gonna go get some ice cream now that I've asked to be removed from their "list" and If I ever get to a point where my I am going to stay put, stop living my life and sit by the phone waiting for a call to pick up a watch, as someone recently suggested, I'll seek medical help. Thanks everyone for the thoughtful responses !

I totally get your frustration—it’s tough when ADs impose such rigid policies, especially when you’ve been waiting patiently for a watch like the Polar. It’s unfortunate that you couldn’t pick it up due to the timing, but it sounds like you’ve got a solid relationship with another AD, so your chances are still good. The 48-hour rule seems pretty strict, and I agree—it puts customers in a difficult position. Thanks for sharing the heads-up with everyone! Hopefully, you’ll get another opportunity soon.

Op, I was hoping that you would get your watch? No matter, enjoy the ice cream.
There was no need to stop your life to wait on a call for a watch. I agree , crazy! Enjoy your panda. Cheers, |

Very strict imposition of regulations, that’s a tough one.
