Help with MB 146
I have had a MB Traveler fountain pen for quite some time. The ink recently has stopped flowing I have cleaned it repeatedly several times including flush until water clear, when I put the cartridges back in it takes awhile to work but then stops writing at all after short time.
I use the pen almost daily and had for years with no problem. There has been no damage. I use the 105191 Mystery Black cartridges. I thought I'd check here before sending to MB. Thanks |

Make sure the cartridge is being punctured completely. IOW, screw in the cartridge holder completely, then unscrew it an look at the end of the cartridge. If it is only slightly punctured, take a sharp rount object (toothpick) and open the cartridge up fully. See if that works. Good luck.

Try cleaning the nib in an ultrasonic cleaner, if you have access to one.

Thanks all, cartridge is punctured properly using toothpick test and squeeze.
I don't have ultrasonic cleaner but that might be what I need, Could be rock hard ink ball backing flow up. In town we had guy who specialized in repairing rolexes and fountain pens, unfortunately he retired last year and closed down. |

I have used slightly warm water, with a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid in a bowl, with the nib immersed for several hours. This has worked on a number of old pens I got at second hand stores.
I would let.the mechanism soak over night and then gently blow it out.
