According to Panerai Central ...

Quote:
First of all the watch, while it’s limited to 1000 pieces this year, it will be made for more than just this year. So there will be more introduced into the market over time. The previous pieces were one time runs of 1000 pieces and then they were done.

Yup. It's been known for quite some time and, with the tremendous success of other bronzos, this model surely is long sold-out.

Attractive piece for sure, but, personally, I think I prefer the bronze bezel....If you're going to go bronze, go all the way. Plus, any marks on the bezel really fit the "steam punk" look and attitude of bronze, IMHO.

I went to the website and put one in the shopping cart and it took it. Not interested in this model but just wanted to see if it would take.

It's good looking, but I prefer the all bronze bezel. The problem I have bronze watches is just how heavy and impractical they are. They look cool, they develop a cool patina, but they really aren't functional in terms of what they are intended to do. Yes, I realize almost no one uses a dive watch to dive, but it's nice to know that if you did it would perform well. I feel like with this on my wrist I'd just sink to the bottom and when I am found years later my watch will be covered in barnacles.

Curious as to people’s experience with the actual availability of these. I was told by a friend at a European boutique that they get a fair amount in but aren’t encouraged to advertise them as available.

Most boutiques have them in the back but just like the previous bronzo, you won't get offered one unless you have a book of business. I bought mine from the boutique two months ago, but I've also purchased all of my panerais through the boutique over the years.

Similar to the PAM 911, Panerai also vets the buyers. A couple will sneak out into the gray market, but generally they do a good job.
