Chances of white dial Explorer 1
I know there has been a bunch of Explorer threads the last few days. I was reading an article on Hodinkee “a week on the wrist” https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ro...-214270-review with the Explorer and they had a link to a vintage white dial Explorer. I think it looked stunning and more like the original that went to the top of Everest.
Since there is a Black dial and a White dial of the Explorer 2, why not so for the Explorer? Do you think we might see one? Did a google search and saw what I assume is a photoshop but definitely eye catching. |

It’d be awesome, but like every other prediction, who really knows... for now the white OP will have to do.

like everyone else said its purely speculation at this point. But I do think this year we will see changes in the Explorer lineup. Unfortunately it will probably be to the Explorer 2.

It looks great, that is some quality photoshop. Doesn't really hold to the legacy of the Explorer line but I understand the connection to the original OP that inspired the line. If it was ever offered I would still prefer my black dial though.

Chances of white dial Explorer 1
I believe it is white Oyster Perpetual that went to the top. We have the white OP now.

I’d be in line for a white explorer 1, especially in 36mm.

I'm going to say that there's zero chance, but one never knows what Rolex has up their sleeve.

Why do we all stop at explorer with our white dial wishes? Why not a white faced Batman or Pepsi on oyster

I'd like to see that one. And Rolex is not as conservative as it once was, imo.

I have to say that the chances of Rolex reducing the size of the Explorer are about slim to none in today's market. Maybe next century they'll reduce it to 38mm.

Probably about the same likelihood as a white dial explorer, which is the same likelihood as a SS Pepsi or a two tone seadweller, or a SS smurf sub, and on and on. No one knows what Rolex will do. The last couple years have been surprising. Won’t stop us from dreaming. A white dial 38mm explorer would be killer. So would a new explorer II in 40mm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree that 40mm is perfect for an Explorer II. That's why I bought a 16570 Polar this past year, even though the bracelet needs some work and possibly a replacement. Nonetheless, it was a great deal.

I much prefer the 5 digit explorer IIs, especially the polar. My only complaint is the hollow center links and older style clasps. Killer watch though. I’d love is Rolex made a modern version of the 5 digits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’d swap my Explorer for a white dial in a heartbeat since I have a black Sub. The mockup looks so good.

It’s possible. Rolex has shown it can go against it’s own norms.
However, this particular combo is unlikely. |
