DJ41 and DJ36 on order

So I’ve ordered a new DJ41 in SS with jubilee, white gold fluted bezel and blue index dial. My son ordered the 36 with jubilee, smooth bezel and blue index dial as well. He bought a Sub Date last year. Two months ago I ordered a DJ41 but with a rhodium dial, which I didn’t love, so sold it privately at a loss. So we’ve bought 4 new Rolexes from the same AD in the past year. He discounted the Sub and DJ41 rhodium 3%. Now that I’m buying two more, I’ve asked for a larger discount, somewhere around 5%. Not sure they’ll do it, but I’ll try. Hoping the wait for the new DateJusts aren’t too long - 3 months for the rhodium watch. I’ll let you know.

Cool! Keep us posted.

I am guessing DJ 41 Fluted with Jubilee and blue dial is kinda hot model so I would be surprised if they give you any discount.

Promised my 3% off both - I'll try for additional, but doubt I'll get it.

I think you may get some kind of discount for DJ 36 divided between the two watches.

I ordered my DJ41 blue smooth sticks at a 10% discount and used my signature Visa card which gave me $150 cash back. I am in neighboring state so they shipped me watch at no cost and no sales tax. $7,450 MSRP and my cost was $6,550.

This was summer 2019 but I do not believe ADs are discounting SS DJ41s any more.

I sort of feel asking for a discount is digging into the pocket of your salesman. For 3% we are talking about $300... To me I wouldn't even care. I would rather my SA made a full commission for the countless hours he spends with me.

Leave as little on the table as you can - that's exactly what they're doing to you. The margins on Rolexes are high for ADs, so don't feel sorry for them. They are salespeople who happen to be selling premium watches and not cars. Believe me, if the "best" they'll do is 3%, I'll certainly take it.

10% is a great deal. My AD will do better if I pay with a check, rather than a credit card. This will be my 3rd and 4th new Rolexes in the past 12 months from this AD, so we'll see if they'll do better than 3%. Your watch is beautiful, BTW.

Hopefully you didn’t take too much of a haircut selling your rhodium dial. You may have been able to have a RSC switch out the dial?

Thank you ... it really is a beautiful watch to me.

Adding my CC cash back would be the equivalent of a 12% discount total.

I bought three Rolexes from my AD in 2019. For some reason, they didn’t discount my BLNR or Daytona

I thought the same thing - normally a dial exchange is quite reasonable.

Yeah, I took a several hundred dollar hit. I didn't switch out the dial as I wanted the watch to be original. Plus, lucky me, I get to pay the new price - now $9900 up from $9450.

Generally, it's easier to get a discount on a professional watch than a sport watch. But, your discount on a new DJ is incredible. When I bought my 2010 GMT Master IIc, I knew someone who knew someone and got a 20% discount from an AD. Paid $5600 for that piece!

Out of curiosity, what would you guys expect as a discount on a precious metal watch? Such as a day date or wg sub?
