Which dress watch would you buy? TT DJ41 or JLC Master Ultra Thin Date....

Which dress watch would you buy for formal events and to wear to work occasionally?

TT DJ41 as shown in the picture below

or JLC Master Ultra Thin Date as shown in the picture below

(they are roughly in the same price....)

Current collection: Rolex Datejust 41, Rolex Submariner 116610LV, Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional

One is a dress watch, and one isn't.

That said, I'd pick the Rolex but with a different dial.

If you look for a real dress watch than go for a leather strap and time only.
Apart from the JLC a Cellini, Lange or Calatrava comes to mind.

Between these two I'd pick the DJ for it's versatility. Business casual or shorts on a holiday all good.
Black tie event you should not wear a watch anyway

DJ. Bracelet way better than leather.

I prefer the DJ for the bracelet and versatility. The JLC can be had pre-owned for significantly less than retail. I would pick a DJ with the jubilee bracelet in SS with a fluted bezel and a classic blue or white dial and have a watch for life.

For a dedicated dress watch.
Out of the two contenders, I would pick the JLC anytime.
I don't consider the Rolex to be a dress watch

If you are looking for a dress watch, I would say JLC between the two.

Of the two, for me the JLC.

The DJ41 is quite a big watch, and I personally don’t like the wide bezel. The JLC, and indeed even smaller DJs have a better proportion with the smaller bezel.

But then again, if I was buying a more formal watch I’d buy a Glashutte Original.

(Edit: Actually, apologies, the fluted bezel on your pic example looks fine. It is the plain bezel that to me looks too big. I’d still go for the JLC or GO though)

JLC is more of a "dress" watch than DJ.

Like others have said, the JLC is more of a dress watch between the two, so I would go with that (especially since your collection has 2 other Rolex watches and they're all sports).

Agree with others JLC is the appropriate choice for a dress watch and has a great history behind the brand. I love my MUT moon and enjoy the proportions and dial design. Would be a nice addition to your collection.

I'd go vintage YG DD over any DJ and that JLC is totally fine but a bit nondescript. If I were going dress from JLC, I'd go burgundy Reverso Tribute.

The JLC is a dress watch. The DJ is still a sports watch, though classically styled. So it really depends what you want.

JLC a pretty watch, though. Really nice.

JLC here and it’s not close. As other said the DJ is not a dress watch.

I have a JLC ultra thin moon phase. Love the watch but make sure you buy these right.... aka - not list. Don't forget to shop other very nice watches that talk in value, like Glashutte and such. Amazing pieces. Hell, you can even get an H Moser for similar.

If going for a strict dress watch I would go for something other than Rolex. Many brands out there that make watches that suit the dress watch role much better.

The JLC master and master ultra thin series are excellent choices and iconic dress watches from a legendary Maison.

If going for a hybrid. Rolex Datejust is king

JLC’s take a big hit on resale from new. There are many good deals in the preowned market. If you live in a humid climate the straps on dress watches need replacement every couple years. Good alligator straps are $350 to $450. I only have one watch on a strap and do not wear it much of the year.

not close for me. I don't like TT DJ's or diamonds, the JLC is better for a dress watch (although I wouldn't get new from an AD)

Out of those 2, JLC. Not knowing how much it costs, I would also look at IWC, Omega, Blancpain, Jaquet Droz, Piaget, Girard-Perregaux, Glashütte, or Breguet.
