Thoughts on 116600 vs. no-date sub
I am interested in the Sea Dweller 116600..... LOVE the dimensions and the smaller lugs than the sub of the same year.
But..... I also like the no-date sub #114060.... and it would save me a bit of money. Does anyone own the 116600 that can give me their thoughts on the watch? Robert |

The 116600 was a very slow seller.
Since it was discontinued combined with the SS hype it's become a bit more desirable. For me it's in the category no meat nor fish, I don't understand the concept of this one. The slimmed lugs look OK but the fatter lugs on the 114060 are just as nice. Comparing the both I find it is too thick for it's size and would pick either a Submariner for it's looks or a DSSD for it's engineering.

The lugs on the 116600 really aren't any smaller than the 114060. It's just the shape that curves more and visually looks smaller.

I own an SD4k.
I purchased it for the reasons you mentioned; slimmer lugs with nicer proportions, lines, and balance. The SD also has slimmer crown guards and a shorter lug to lug measurement by about 2mm over both 5 and 6 digit Submariner references. The SD is heavier than the Submariners and that may take some getting used to if you're used to a lighter watch. But I prefer the smaller overall wrist footprint and proportions of the SD over the 114060 (Or 116610, 116710, etc). |

Thoughts on 116600 vs. no-date sub
There is not a right or wrong answer. I own both the 116600 and the 114060 and depends on what you want and like they can both be the perfect watch. Sub is balanced, light and legendary as well as wearing much more comfortable than the 116600 do to it’s thinner profile and lesser weight. The 116600 is definitely rarer and very beautiful, it has a date complication, it’s the first ceramic SeaDweller as well as the last 40mm with no magnifying glass SeaDweller. The shortest production cycle than any other ceramic bezel out there. I actually like the fully minute markers around the bezel as well as the fact you see very few of them in the wild and feels more exclusive. ( I still haven’t seen one in someone’s else’s wrist other than the internet). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Date without cyclops is my preference. I do not find it too thick either.

I refer to my 116600 as the Goldilocks of Rolex. It is not too big, or too small - it is just right! :-)
It sits a tad higher due to the HV, but wears smaller than the 114060. The Sub gets it balance from the dial, the SD gets it's balance from the case. And I love the old military style grader bezel. If you can get a Sub 114060 at retail and you want to save money, then by all means, do it. Otherwise, I'd say the SD116600 is the way too go - much more unique, more interesting and wears so well. It could very well be your one and only Rolex. |

I'd vote 114060 without hesitation. However, if they still offered the SD4k I'd buy one for sure. I like plain black divers in SS, especially with glidelock clasp, and there's nothing else for me other than the Subs I already own in their lineup unfortunately.

Go with the sub, or jump to the DSSD. No real logic for the in between to me.

I have a 114060 so I'm biased, however I tried a SD4K on, wore it for a few minutes and it was not nearly as comfortable as the sub. The case thickness and weight make it comparatively top heavy and for the reason of discomfort alone, I wouldn't buy one...beautiful watch to look at though. In contrast, the sub is all day comfortable.

The Submariner is the winner in terms of comfort. I also prefer the clean dial layout.

I'm fan of the SeaDweller history (Comex, Picard, etc).

Sounds like you LOVE the 116600, and only like the 114060.
Listen to your heart and get the 116600
