8 years later

So today I pulled the black sub out of the box. Was just time to put it on my wrist because it’s been a while. I have a super modest Rolex collection that consists of a BLNR, LVC and a LNC. I gotta say 8 years later and this thing still has a way of pulling me right back in. I think for an 8 year old watch it’s taken some hits here and there, mostly desk diving but it’s managed to hold up.

What you guys think? Managed to hold up pretty good?

Looks awful... I’ll take it off your hands and give it some proper wear and tear

There are some marks you can see in certain lighting angles, but overall it’s in decent condition, not a full service couldn’t take care of. I’m not anal about the watch but at the same time I don’t go out-of my way to put it in harms way.

Questions for you guys, now that I’m approaching the 10 year mark is it worth sending to service? The watch is still well within cosc specs.

Looks like a watch that is actually worn on a wrist. So novel in this forum :)

This thing will have the same power to pull anyone right back not after 8 but 80 years of ownership.

It looks worn but not abused, well done. If it is running without issue, no point in sending it in.

Perfect.

Surprised that you don't feel like wearing it more than you say you do.

i recall reading somewhere about lubricants drying up around the 10 year mark that said though it is running pretty good so i may just wait.

yeah i definitely dont abuse it but i do get to enjoy it. i am in long sleeves most of the time and it sits under my shirt cuff. the clasp is mostly scuffed from desk diving but that doesnt bother me. the thing that drives me bonkers is dings or dents on the head of the watch.

yeah me too. i go through a honeymoon with each piece so i pull one out of the box, wear it for about a month then rotate.

this is a good question. i am fortunate enough to have a few watches. 3 rolex pieces a breitling chronomat, corum admirals cup chrono and a new piece i still need to make an incoming thread on. the breitling and corum rarely see any wrist time as i feel 44 is just way too big for my wrist. at present im cycling through the 3 rolexes and a new piece that arrived a couple of weeks ago. i dont think i can say one is my favourite over another. i try to pull each piece out of the box and keep them on a one month rotation

Looks great! Better than new. Honest wear looks good on a watch. Means you've enjoyed it! Just like a good leather bag or jacket.

It looks fine to me for an 8 yr. old. I wouldn't send it in just yet since it sounds like it running perfect.
