So Help Me Pick my Next Non Rolex

Hi all, still kicking back at home and working remotely. I was hoping to get your opinions on my next non Rolex piece. I am looking for a semi-formal/formal piece I can wear to the office and that looks good with business/smart casual or go with suit. The three contenders are:

Zenith Elite Ultra Thin

Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 5

Tissot Gentleman

What say you and why?

With your choices listed, it looks like you need to add an Omega Aqua Terra.

Yup, exactly why I asked about the price. I’d go with this OP, obviously can do black

Agree with others, Omega Aqua Terra or have you considered a Grand Seiko?

For wearing with a suit, I'd go with the Zenith and the leather strap. Very sharp.

Old skool Tag fan, so my vote goes to calibre 5.

I'm not a strap fan myself. The Tissot looks like a DJ which is fine although I prefer the wider center link on the Carrera so that would be my first choice. Nice curved lugs too.

Depends what you're looking for:
- dress/suit watch on a strap, I'd definitely go Zenith.
- fun every day watch that reminds you of not having bought a Datejust, I'd go with Tissot ;-)

After seeing the choices, this was my first thought.

If you want something more off the beaten path, how about a Ball Watch Engineer II COSC Red Label. These came in a few different sizes and colors.

Zenith... I forgot about this one, and it's definitely to my taste. Caliber 5 not too bad either... I just don't care for the Tissot, looks too much like a modern 41 DJ (which I don't like either).

Alright, so you've listed one dress watch, and basically two Datejust competitors (the Tissot is a pretty blatant copy...). I agree with the "go back to the drawing board" sentiment someone else posted above.

There are much better designed watches than that Zenith dress piece, and if you want something that looks like a Datejust, just get a Datejust. There will be bargains galore in a couple weeks.

My recommendation for a semi-formal/formal dress piece that's appropriate for the office or a wedding or whatever, would be the black dial JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon. You could probably score one pre-owned for ~$6k.

JLC Reverso or IWC Portugieser. Definitely not a Tag or a Zenith. Tissot is really nice and they made some movement improvements on certain models.

I like and have this watch too, but it’s not a good look with a suit.

Out of the three choices listed I don’t like any personally but seems like you
Have your heart set on one so I won’t offer any alternatives, happy hunting.

I was also going to suggest a Ball like my Engineer II Marvelite. The M version has their COSC Inhouse movement as well. The tritium lume is amazing!!!

Sarb033 is one of my favorite watches in my collection. I have it on a dark chocolate brown leather strap from WatchGrecco. It’s a baby Grand Seiko. Definitely a watch to consider. There’s many reviews on it.
