I doubt I will come around on the Hulk, but I didn’t like the Daytona until I got offered one thanks to an introduction to an AD by a friend. I bought it because it was in demand, wore it for a week convinced it would be the first watch I ever sold, then on day 5, I finally “got it” and now have 3.
Same with the Royal Oak, I didn’t like the screws in the bezel at all, and otherwise it looked weird, all until my AD showed me a 37mm RO and I got a good look at the dial and finishing, and got to understand the appeal much more. Now my 26331st is probably my favourite watch. I’m even starting to like the Omega Seamaster, after seeing the new James Bond edition with mesh bracelet. Hopefully I never start to love the Patek Aquanaut!

I never had appreciation for the Explorer until I saw one in person. For me speaks to the importance of seeing a watch in the metal before buying vs. just relying on pictures.

Not a Rolex, but back in the mid 2000's, I really like a few of the Hublot models. Never pulled the trigger b/c I was concerned about it being a fad and thought that long term, I might regret the purchase. But at the time, there were a few that I really liked.
In retrospect, I'm SUPER GLAD I never purchased one. So I guess I went the other way. |

Several Rolex sport models:
1. Hulk - couldn't care less about it initially; thought it was horrid. Now I really like it. 2. Explorer I - thought it was a bland / boring watch. It grew on me and i really think it is one of my favorite watches. 3. Explorer II - never appealed to me. Now I am really looking for a really nice pre-owned example for the collection. Love the black dial. 4. Daytona - was never a fan of it and started growing on me. I really think it is visiting the forum and looking at the posts that makes this happen. |

Handled it and took this picture a while back when it was available. It’s nice but not for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Funny you should mention Hublot. I never thought about them until I saw this one, a repeater and no branding. I spent the evening checking them out. Most are garish, but this one is so industrial and raw, I love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Datejust seemed odd to me. Felt out of place on my wrist compared to Sub, GMT and Panerai. But then one day ......
Don’t wear it much, but like it when I do. |
