Scratched crystal
I went shopping with Brenda today in Manchester. We went to get her last Christmas's present. She could not decide what she wanted but made her mind up today. (Typical woman) Whilst we were out she banged her arm into my watch, well I never thought much about it until we were in a restaurant tonight and I noticed a mark in the crystal. It was scratched and the scratch can be felt with a finger nail. We reckon it must have been a diamond from her ring that did the damage, after all there's not many things harder than a Rolex crystal. I suppose I'll have to get it changed when I get back to Saudi.
Just checked the thread count and I think this was the 1000th.

That's what happens when you go shopping for Christmas presents in August, mate.

That is sad indeed, Adrian. Yes, a diamond with a MOH hardness of 10 would be just about anything that could possibly scratch a sapphire crystal whose MOH hardness comes in second at 9.
I'm sure the AD will take care of it; but they might insist on a full service too....just normal Rolex practice. So don't be surprised if they do. Cheers and good luck - JJ

Bugger At least it was an easily replaced crystal and not a dent in a case from dropping in the shower.

Micah has a pic from his DJ that has a scratch the length of the crystal.
His wife got it with her diamond as well.

What a bummer Adrian I would leave it, and get it changed at the next service.

Still sorry it happened. The gloves on both hands of the wifey is a good idea. Cheers - JJ

I still find it hard to fathom how an SD with a super-strong case would dent that easily from a 3-foot fall!!!

I managed to get a picture of the scratch. It took some doing as it's not that noticeable, you need the right light. It's just above the 40 marker.

OUCH! As long as it's not too noticeable, I guess that's fine. It's just the very knowledge about it that really bugs you, I suppose.
