Oyster Perpetual

I went to the AD the first day they opened (had to wear a mask and take it off for a pic in the breezeway. cool stuff).

No OP in stock of course. They're looking at 3 months. I'm swaying back and forth between that and the Tudor BB (don't ask).

Question, do these 2 watches usually get a discount.

Rolex current line includes five OP 36 configurations and six of the OP 39.
Your AD had not one of these ?

They didn't have the 39mm blue or white face (smooth bezel). They had some 36s (which were nice but small for my wrist). Actually no 39s at all.

Mine has a blue face in 39mm size in stock, if you need it shipped to you. They might do an out of state purchase, I can ask them.

I don't know that you're getting a discount on an OP 39, even in this climate.

Not sure why you added the 'don't ask' when it comes to the Tudor BB. I think this is likely a comparison that many consider, myself included. Very similar aesthetic yet a big price disparity that makes the BB quite attractive relative to the OP.

I think you might be able to secure a discount on the BB if it is in stock. Probably not if it needs to be ordered.

I do like the BB. I've never tried one on, so I'll need to see if I like.

I'll need to go back and see. I close to one AD and abt 30 minutes from another. Plus a few more within a few hours drive.

Looks like you can definitely get discount on blue OP 39 if you dont buy through an authorized dealer. They are up under 5K on chrono24.

If you do some research on what these have been selling for, find a good seller, talk to them for a bit and then make a fair offer Im guessing you should be able to get one under 5K.

I recently did this and got 20% of msrp for a DJ 126200 that was so slightly used I would have thought it was new if I didnt know. Different watch but I dont think OP 39s are much harder to get than than DJ 36s (Ive seen them in ADs pre covid)

If you know the specific OP 39 model you want to purchase then you could telephone some AD's within your region, because maybe one of them has what you want to buy.

With all the shutdowns, it is uncharted territory as to what the pricing policies will be in the near term and whether they will resemble what ADs did prior to all this. Alot turns on demand and flow of new inventory, all of which are unknown at the moment.

I doubt you'll get a discount on the OP39, but you should obviously still ask. BB58, extremely unlikely you get a discount, assuming you can even find one. Other BB you should be able to get a discount, maybe 20%.

If a watch has a three month wait why would there be a discount?

I did buy the BB before the OP, and regretted it. Sold it eventually and bought the OP. Individual experiences may vary

I got one in March. It's an OP, not a Daytona.
