My first was a 1988 5513. I bought it for $1800 in 2002 (I was 25), wore it everyday until 2008, sold it for $3600.

I had no idea the significance of that watch then. It was a Transitional watch. Last year of the plastic crystal, first year of the white gold indices on the dial.

I have been looking for another one for the last few years. Gonna cost a little more than $1800 this go around. Lol

My first was a TTDJ with Champagne dial. Inherited when I was 18. Sadly, I no longer own it, but have many fond memories. Congrats OP!

Why on Earth did you sell it?! It’s probably worth $5k more today than when you sold it four years ago. That’s monetarily, though. It’s the lost sentimental value that would be the biggest loss for me.

Got my first Rolex at 28. A no date Sub from the AD.
Sold it after a year to buy a 16520 from the AD (so lucky at that time to see it available on the display). Its still with me, a lovely patrizzi dial inverted 6 :)

Congrats! Your watch is in great condition.

I was 25 when I got a TT DJ36 diamond dial with the hidden jubilee bracelet.

I was 23. Bought a sub date and still have it. I think I paid 1900 with 1 year interest free financing. Couldn’t afford it, however It all worked out fine.

I apologize if I already replied, but I purchased my first Rolex when I was 26 and it was a DJ 16013 - very similar to yours but with a white dial. I wore that for 35+ years. Over this past year I had it polished and serviced and gave the watch to my son. It looks brand new! He loves it.

Congrats and wear in good health!

I was 25 or 26, and like OPs, was a TT DJ. I still have it, but don't really wear it. Contrary to popular opinion here, it may one day go. I do still think the Tapestry dial gives it a subtle, unique look though.

What do you think about it’s condition ?
It’s a little bit scratched but I believe the condition is very good for 1993.

How's the jubilee? Does it have any slack? Can you put a picture on the case to see how much slack the jubilee has?

I have a 16234 from 1989 and that's my jubilee.

I was 42 when I bought my GMT II new in 2000. If I had one in my 20's or 30's, I would have lost it or busted it...
