Icon20 Spouse rolex Anniversary tales

My wife and I have been married for 16 years and 11 months and 11 days. She is a very simple and loving person. She is my best friend and i can’t imagine living my life without her. Our 17 years is coming up in a couple of weeks and I would love to get her her first rolex watch. I am just not sure which one yet but definitely two tone rose gold with some glitters. I would love to hear past stories how you all surprised your better halves with rolex watches or any other luxury goods. Thanks.

Great idea. I'd check with some of our Trusted Sellers. You may not be able to find the specific watch at an AD. Start checking with a few of the top ones here with the most availability of models in the size you want. Get things ready to go so you can have it in time. Don't want to surprise her late, right?

Wasn’t a surprise exactly but a few years ago I took my wife to an AD on her birthday during a trip to London. She got the full experience, champagne, pampering and all, and of course we walked out with a TT DJ36 of her choice. A nice memory for her and of course not everything that glitters is gold but in the case of a Rolex it certainly is. I hope you can find the right model for your wife to have a wonderful memory of your milestone and congratulations on the anniversary!!

My wife and I are both very picky about what we want/like. We eventually got her an OP a few weeks back. She’s very simple and casual when it comes to watches (usually wears a Seiko), so we got the 31 OP with blue/black Roman numerals. Fits her to a tee!

I had been trying to get her a DJ with diamonds and/or fluted for years, but she just couldn’t pull the trigger. I was almost convinced she was interested in the meteorite dial, but it turned out it was just too fancy.

I had the same idea for my anniversary but decided to bring her in and let her have the buying experience. I also wasn’t sure if she would go for PM, TT or what. I also decided that money was not going to be the deciding factor. I wanted her to try them on and get a feel for size and weight. My wife has worn an Ebel for years. It is about 26( not sure on size exactly). I was blown away by her choice. I was thinking DJ, small, PM, diamonds.

She chose the one on the left.

To celebrate our engagement, I bought my wife a vintage Ladies Datejust, whose serial number most closely coincided with the birth of her daughter in 1984.

I've been trying to get her to at least consider a 31mm Datejust as she can't even read the dial on the 26mm. She's not having any of it. Her first Rolex is perfect, and that's all she needs.

Whatever you decide, it'll be perfect. Best of luck.

Hope is not a strategy.
