Red Sub Purchase?

I am strongly considering purchasing this red sub. It's from a reputable dealer who mentioned that everything is original, it's an excellent dial with matching hands, very nice thick case/lugs but has been polished a little. The only thing not original is the bracelet which he mentioned is a later band but in mint condition, and he offered to swap it for a folded link if I really wanted.

Please advise as to your thoughts on the condition, dial, case, if the folded link is a necessity, etc!! (I'm comfortable with the price, and therefore more curious about people's thoughts on the overall condition)

Thats looks gorgeous. Im not an expert and certainly not on vintage but if it's not a date correct folded link bracelet I wouldn't worry about it and would keep the later mint bracelet with it and wear the heck out of it..

It looks nice. I own two red subs and have the original 9315 bracelets, but I never wear them due to fitment and hassle with adjustment. IMO, the more modern 93150 is more comfortable and convenient.

I think it's a really nice piece. BTW, I think that the photos (or lighting) have been manipulated to make it look more yellow, so it might look a little different in person. The bracelet issue is your own personal decision.

I wear mine on 93150 as well and have the 9315 stored away since I like the sturdiness of the thicker 93150 better them the folded 9315 ones...

Just out of curiosity, do you mind sharing what he is asking? I am in the market for a red sub and prices are all over the place.

Looks nice. I would want the age-appropriate folded bracelet. Good ones are really hard to find. You can always track down a later Sub bracelet. That's relatively easy. Not so with vintage folded bracelets.

Don't worry about the bracelet. You can always find the "correct" one if you want to, but these are better for me on the more solid modern bracelet.

A bracelet should never put you off a good watch if the price is right.

The 93150 is a great bracelet, but when going vintage, original is always best. I always get a kick out of the red Sub guys who want a perfect watch except when it comes to the bracelet which is an integral part of a vintage watch. Most seem to care less or make up excuses why a newer bracelet is better - and it's usually because the watch is missing the original bracelet!!! It's funny because I rarely see these type of comments with the other vintage models when it comes to having an original bracelet.

Red Sub Purchase?

Looks like a MK4 dial, it’s gorgeous. Is the serial number in the 2.7-2.9m?

The bezel insert appears to be a MK3 - looks great.

Factor in at least $1300-$1500 for a period correct 9315 bracelet.

Best to have both. One in the safe, one on the wrist.

You’ll have a hard time finding a decent example with wetsuit extension for that price.

I bought a fabulous 9315 on VRM. Six years ago for £1000 and at the time that was $1500 + , I wear my 1680 on a 93150 but have a period correct 9315 in the box as has been suggested

The watch you are considering looks lovely 😊

A couple of the members have really good examples with wetsuit extension...I’ve been researching this for my redsub restore project.
