I know. That’s why in my mind paying 16k for the SkyD is not a bad deal

With your collection i would make the trade.

That said I assume it is two different friends. It sounds like the first one did you a favour selling you the watch around retail. If I were him I wouldn't be too happy if you then went on to flip it straight away, I don't know the whole story though.

He is ok with it. I talked to him today and told him about it that I might trade it. I got him a great deal on a Hulk, Batman on jubilee and a SD43. All for well under market price. The Batman was beat up and well worn. It needs a good LAWW treatment.

Basically he was going to sell it to a grey dealer as he has the new Batman. So I paid him the exact amount the dealer would have given him so he is not out a penny.

In that case I would do it. Ha for the record, I don't actually like the BLNR though, so it sways my decision.

If you're buying for the sake of having another Rolex watch then it sounds market rate. I find it super weird they people will go for any model as long as it says Rolex. So many different styles, case sizes, complications and brands to choose from. But then I guess if you can sell it between your mates then it's a fun jewellery hobby

I went grey for my black SS Sky Dweller.

So you can guess my answer.

I also declined a few weeks later, when my AD offered me a BLNR out of the safe. Having handed the BLNR back to the SA (with gratitude for the offer) and gone on the list for a BLRO, I bought a TT Sky Dweller.

So I'm more than slightly biased!

You should have the one you want the most. It sounds like your plan involves more strategic thinking than love. Mechanical watches are for the heart. If something doesn't sing, let it sing to someone else.

My style is casual but I do like a flashy watch from time to time.

At the rate you are going you will lust for a GMT sooner or later if you trade it (you won't feel your collection is complete without a GMT on oyster BLNR). Keep the Batman and get the Black Sky from an AD (14,800), they are not hard to get. Wait it out. You will be getting a new watch and some more purchase history. If your friend is willing to trade for the black sub then I would go for it.

You cannot go wrong either ways, do whatever you want and live with it.

Sky D. Is harder to find but Batman looks better to me.

My SA let me purchased CHNR, Batman, Pepsi, Hulk, Sub, Daytona white Dial And DSSD this year but not Sky D.

White and black dial Sky vs blue Sky are easy to get from AD. It may be because of the covid situation Rolex didn't do a Sky Dweller production run this year.

I own four Sky-Dwellers, three SS and one YG, so I obviously like the watch. I also own a BLNR and a BLRO on Jubilee. Looking at your collection I would say that the Sky-Dweller fits right in and will give you a watch that has the most complicated movement produced by Rolex. The BLNR is great but for me it is not the Sky-Dweller. The numbers are fair on the trade so you decide where you want to be. I could have a two watch Rolex collection with the black and white dial Sky-Dweller and never miss a beat.

Go for the Sky. Great looking watch and much harder to find. If you don't like you could always flip it for what you paid+ and go back to a BLNR

Both are really cool watches. I had a black dial Sky Dweller and it was a really neat watch. I love the complication of it and the rotating bezel is awesome engineering imo.

I would personally swap into that but I would try to get the net cash out of pocket down a little bit.

I bought mine at retail in 2018 and sold in early 2019 for $16,100.

I see lots posted for $18-$19k but don’t know how many of them actually sell for that price as the asking prices were similar then and I had very little traction at that price and obviously sold much lower.

Both are great, but the Sky-Dweller is much more special and the better watch IMHO
