Interesting how watches get passed around

I like the watch BTW, and I'm not implying anything negative. Just thought it was interesting, especially given the history of the sellers.

Dealers sell to dealers all the time. Mostly before things get published. In this case Jacek and Scott are old business partners so nothing weird at all. Normally you just don’t see it.

Yup, not weird. It's just interesting to see it. Your suggestion is definitely a possibility, since not everything that is listed as sold, is really sold to a buyer. Or maybe it was sold to a retail buyer who then sold it again. That's what I was actually thinking when I first posted the thread.

I’ve spotted one of mine that I traded in 2015. The dealer I used knows the one now selling the piece. I guess the clients are in similar circles too.

Interesting observation. There might be more dealer-to-dealer transactions than dealer-to-customer transactions. It's like a beehive if you go to one of those dealer-centered vintage watch fairs .

These guys are busy finding great stuff for us and deservedly making a few bucks in the process.

Fascinating. Any hypotheses on why they'd do that? I'd imagine that Scott and Jacek have pretty decent overlap in their customer bases.

It must be much easier for a dealer to sell to a dealer than to a customer.

I imagine selling to a customer is actually a huge pain, with dozens of emails back and forth, then sorting out the payment and handling the follow-up stuff (questions about the watch, requests for receipts/paperwork, etc.). And dealing with returns. And all the other customer service stuff. And trying to sniff out scammers. It's a big time burden.

With dealer-to-dealer, it's done and done immediately. These guys do it all day, every day, and know they can trust one another. If you can sell a watch to another dealer for a small profit, then it's job done.

I sold a watch about 2 years ago to a guy I do business with often , he deals in diamonds , gold and watches. Less than a week later I was in another watch shop I do business with often and he pulls out the watch I sold to the other dealer and asks if I’m interested. Fast forward to about 6 months ago and I see the same watch for sale on eBay and it’s in the United States now lol

Sometimes it's easier for them to make more on a vintage watch by parting out the bracelet. naive newbies will buy the watch head only and think they got a good deal.

I've bought from HQ Milton in the past, the watch they sold me had a bracelet that was much older than the serial production date of the watch itself.
