Nice way to answer an honest question, guys. What is this forum for if not to benefit others with our experience? Oh, right, it’s to talk about wait lists and future watch values.

+1

People complain about wait lists and market prices and then greet sincere questions with ridicule like "yea you can change the time on 300m watches"

This thread has a diagram of the bezel mechanism. There are 4 small holes in the case that are used for ball bearings and the ratchet, but they are completely separate from the part that holds the movement.

No worries to do so OP.

Sensible to have asked if you weren’t sure.

For the original poster no you will not harm your watch turning the bezel even if you was 40M underwater.

Yes, you're okay to use it on a boat, it doesn't have to be a yacht.

The story goes that when the original Submariner was being tested, they sent the watch down to 125m with the crown unscrewed and it came out without a hint of water inside.

This was nearly 70 years ago. The Triplock these days I'd expect is equally as safe.

Not that I would try it myself.

That’s fine.
They’re designed so you can alter them underwater.
in fact my only complaint with my BB is that bezel isn’t as “toothy” as some, so I find it hard to adjust when diving.

Why yes, you can turn the bezel.

The bezel on the Explorer seems to be stuck, though.

dive watches are really obsolete these days. you cant even compute total bottom time since dive computers compute slow multilevel ascent.

I'm just curious, and this is not a smart*** question, but did you get a user's guide booklet with your watch? And if so did you bother to read it?

Agree 1000%! And don't forget about the tips that are bound to come about preparing for that interview with your AD to see if you're a "suitable" customer for a new Rolex. What madness...

The seals are not rated for you to adjust the time with the watch submerged. They are designed to offer a degree of water resistance in static conditions should you forget to tighten the crown.

Lateral pressure on the crown compresses the o-rings in the tube allowing water to enter.

You not experiencing this is luck on your part.
