226659 Yacht-Master 42 Availability

Hi everyone,

I posted the below questions to another thread but I think it will be lost there, so sorry about possible spam.

I am interested in your opinion on the Rolex Yacht-Mater 42 226659 and the availability/waiting time and pricing. So here's my questions (please bear with me, I am a newbie with watches).
  1. Does anyone know if there is a long waiting time for it, and possibly how long? I saw it at one AD but it was already booked for a customer. And looking at Chrono24 the price seems to be a few thousand more than the retail price. So is it really difficult to get?
  2. Am I correct to think that the after market price hike in is only because it is a 2019 model and has not maybe been shipped so much?
  3. I assume(and hope) that there should not be too long waiting list or difficulties to find with a thorough search from ADs as this is quite high value and to my understanding not the most popular model?

Thanks everyone who can help!

1. Depends on the AD, ask them.
2. Yes
3. Yes

It's a new model, and they are barely trickling in to dealers now, and it doesn't appear to be a super hot model, so you should be able to get one soon enough. Speak to your AD and they can give you an idea.

Thanks RJRJRJ!
I really like this watch, will talk to the AD first thing tomorrow and ask about the waiting time.

No problem. Speak to them in person as they get dozens of calls every day from flippers and tire kickers.

Good to hear that this watch should actually be possible to get.

I bought one last week from an AD in Pennsylvania. It was on display in the store window.
The store owner offered it to me and I jumped at the opportunity. I love it!

How did you guys find it so easy to find one? I can’t fine one anywhere in the UK. All waiting list...

There will be a wait but not as long a wait as for the more popular models.

So I went to an AD at beginning of 2020 and asked for this and they didn't have it but "put me on the waiting list." In July, out of boredom one day, I called another AD and they had it in stock - which shocked me. Went down and picked it up and have been in love with it since :)

Spoke with my AD last weekend about the OF watches; they don't like them as they're harder to move in our area.
