Omega Skyfall

was just curious, i used to own this 232.30.42.21.01.004 and remember it being quite large and heavy.

in the market to replace it and see some listings at 39.5mm and some at 42mm, for the exact same reference.

is anyone familiar with this model ?

That’s the 8500 coaxial Planet Ocean. The new models come in 39.5 or 43.5 size with an upgraded movement. Both are still thick but the 39.5 is a little over 14mm while the 43.5 is like 16mm.

Off topic, but I thought the Skyfall watch was an Aqua Terra with a blue dial and Caliber 8500. Do I recall incorrectly?

Correct and a very desirable model. 39mm is hard to find and going for well over MSRP now.

This Skyfall one of my favorite James Bonds watches. This Omega Seamaster PO in 42mm is a great watch.
