After reading all these comments I'm thinking of offering him 4 DJs of his choice or 8 DJs of my choice. Spoke to bunch of grey dealers today; I think they'll offer to buy my DJs at 75c on the dollar. At least that's what happened last time! I'll flood the market with DJs soon folks! Sit tight! lol

If you want the 116508 find a new AD or go grey.
it retails for 36.5 and bnib goes for low 80s. factoring in taxes you're paying ~39k for a daytona at an AD. there are listings for it for around 83k so thats a 44k difference. you'd have to lose almost 5k on each datejust to come out of it at a loss. haven't looked at datejust prices so it very well could be not worth it, but 5k is quite a lot to lose on a rolex and especially 9 rolexes. even two tone datejusts are selling at premiums so the loss there should be 1-2k at most, the worst will be the lady djs if those are part of it

if the AD told me what djs i'd have to buy up front it wouldn't be crazy to entertain the idea

Why? My AD told me they have a minimum of 100k requirement for a Daytona. He offered me a bundle and I'm thinking about it!

Just to let everyone know. I visited an AD today and got what I wanted. Unfortunately there are some haters and under the cover grey dealers on here. I received many helpful PMs yesterday and as someone inexperienced I think I did very well on my first purchase. Good luck to all!
How was your recent first Rolex purchase?

None of this makes any sense; remember the previous thread you started, which forum members have also read?

You contradict yourself in your posts

Look after yourself and best wishes

Try getting a Daytona as your first purchase! I'm sure you can't! Because you can't buy 5 DJs to get the Daytona! Sad!

It's all about bundling! Everything is available!

What has happened to common sense on the forum?

I’d say draw the line at 7 datejusts

You’re missing my point. In the previous thread, you said you made your first Rolex purchase. In this thread, you made a number of posts talking about your previous experiences of buying from ADs and bundling etc. I just suggest you read your own posts - on both threads which you started - and notice that your statements are not internally consistent.

Incidentally, most businesses realise that bundling and tying of products may be illegal.

As far as buying Daytonas is concerned: you are right, it’s not possible to buy as a first watch from an AD (Actually even that needs to be qualified: it’s true for stainless steel models, maybe not true for two-tone). But, those of us lucky enough to have one or more Daytonas, have often obtained those by buying other watches (which we wanted) over a period of time. This was certainly the case for me - and believe me, my total spend was considerably less than you are quoting.

Wishing you good health

Bundling unwanted datejusts regrettably gives Rolex no feedback about which models don’t sell. Of course, the cynical argument is Rolex cares not and is happy to sell relatively unwanted watches while keeping their desirable pieces scarce.
