Do local dealers talk to each other ?

My question relates to going to a few Rolex dealers within a 50 mile radius and either buying, inquiring or putting your name on a waiting list .
Does store”A” know that you’ve bought or inquired at store “ B”? or does all that information stay private ?

Greys.. simple answer is yes.... AD's? doubtful unless they're in the same ownership or their owners/ managers know each other.

No, they don't.

There is no secret cabal who passes Rolex info and potential customers info back and forth. Most of these shops, Rolex is a very small part of their business and if they had to rely on selling Rolex only, they would go out of business.

Franchise Dealers do have a corporate data-base, so if you are in their system, you are in all of them, but you won't be in anybody elses.

Secondary/used Dealers (these are not Grey sellers) don't give competitors information either, unless they are owner associated. Some of them will call around for you to find something you may be interested in, but they won't tell the other shop who you are; they don't want to lose a sale to somebody else if they can help it.

I think the context in which this question was asked is:

"Will AD 1 find out that I'm still 'dating around,' seeing AD 2 and AD 3, and not 'exclusive' with them, and that I'll go to the first one who has what I'm looking for?"

And less of:

"After trying some shady sh!t with AD 1, will AD 2 or AD 3 across town find out and refuse to do business with me because I'm shady?"

Well being an old man - I found out that “girlfriends” always find out about the others.

Aftermath could get a little sticky. Though I swear to my significant other for the last 40 years I never did this type of thing.

Lol. However, I've realized that wearing a new, somewhat scarce model when browsing is sort of like wearing a wedding ring: Dealers assume I had to have a very good relationship with someone to get that and therefore the likelihood of replacing that relationship is relatively low.

And it's largely true: the AD I bought from took good care of me and I'll therefore do everything I can to not only keep my business there but send others, too.

Pretty sure they do as they may have worked with each other in the past or have gone to training meetings.

of course they do. Wholesale trade is one the BIGGEST aspects of their business.

Just watch some of the Youtube videos and I think all the gray dealers know each other and talk - especially on those dealer chat groups. ALL of them.
