Bracelet sizing question

On my GMT IIC watch I got many years ago and sized at the AD, two links were removed and it looks like they took one link from each side (12 and 6) so that there are even number of links between clasp and watch (5 on a side).

I'm about to get a new Rolex Daytona sized and noticed that a lot of watches where the links were removed (from pictures I've seen from sellers on the forums here) seem to have removed links from the same side (i.e. two links removed from the 6 o'clock side) so that there are uneven number of links between watch and clasp. Is there a preferred way to do this? I imagine the logic is where the clasp is ultimately located after link removal. Is it wrong to have links removed from both sides to allow the clasp in the middle? Better to have 2 links removed from one side?

Thanks for answering this perhaps strange question!

I normally start by taking a ~10mm link out of the six o'clock side. Keep in mind the modern clasps allow about 5mm of adjustment via the easy link and 3mm twice on the internal clasp micro-adjustments, all of which accrue to the twelve o'clock side.

Kinda depends on wrist shape, how picky your wrist is and so on. Yes, many people find their watch a little more comfortable with more links on the 12 o'clock side. It more depends on where the internal blades on the clasp rest than where the external clasp sits, since the blades are longer than the clasp.

In most cases there should be more links on the 12 side than on the 6 side because that is the way the wrist is made - it is not equal. There also needs to be a bit of adjustment on the 12 side where the micro adjustment is in the clasp.

Usually, even numbers is wrong, but if that fits you, that's what you should do.

Center timepiece on wrist.

Hold position.

Center clasp on the underside of your wrist.

Whatever 'hangs off' needs to be adjusted / removed.

Yes clasp should be centered. I have a 7" wrist and for me it's 5 on the 6 side and 6 on the 12 side. For the glidelock on my SubC I have 5 and 5.
