RSC or AD watchmaker?

Hi all,

Happy owner of an Explorer II (2019 - ref. 216570).

Unfortunately, the winding mechanism doesn't work anymore (winding the crown but the watch doesn't start).

What's best? Bring it directly to RSC Brussels or take it back to the AD?
Already read so many horror stories, watches coming back from warranty with scratches, new defects, etc.

If the watch has to be sent to RSC anyway, bringing it directly to RSC will minimize potential shipping (and damage), but I guess one can't answer without knowing which place has the best watchmaker…
I guess an experimented watchmaker at the AD is better than a less experimented guy at the RSC…
So any feedback about RSC Brussels?

Cheers from twice gold-winning Belgium today

Definitely with RSC...

I've seen so many horror stories as well. AD claimed that they DID send it to RSC but did not yet charging equivalent or more charge for service/quick fix they've done.

AD's "sometimes" ship repairs to people other than true Rolex Service Centers.

Not saying that applies to you, but just passing along some info.

Going with RSC (direct ship to them, don't waste time shipping through an AD) is your best bet.

Humans make mistakes, whether at an independent watch service or an RSC. You take a chance wherever you go.

From what I read above, the mentioned AD seem to act more like dishonest people...I trust mine so I guess he wouldn't do that.

Still, if he's got a certified watchmaker, does he always have to send the watch back to RSC, even if the local guy can do the job? Or does it depend on the "importance" of the job?
Thx

Living in Brussels makes it an easy choice, RSC, no brainer.

Agree, I wanted to bring it to RSC directly...will have to convince my dad (who's the actual owner of the watch, but doesn't have an account on this forum).
I really like our AD so I think he should be informed that the watch has encountered a problem (as a matter of politeness)...will see how to deal with that

I would take it personally to the RSC.

I've never used an RSC, but I've had a local certified watchmaker take care of my previous repairs.

Now that he is gone, if no one else comes along, I'll drive to Dallas and drop my watch off when it requires service.

I've sent two watches to RSC via certified mail. Great experience but shipping is pricy.

I have had one watch repaired under Rolex warranty at an AD and that was a great experience. Your watch is 2019 so you should not have to pay anything no matter where you go.

No matter where you go, be prepared for a polished watch unless you explicitly say otherwise.

Just curious, was this watch on a watch winder?

Congratulations on Belgium’s wins today.

That's one advantage of living in a small country…the AD is 20 min away from my parent’s house and RSC is a 50 min drive (15 from my place I'm already in Brussels)...
Thanks for the reminder, I was prepared to repeat it 3 times to him "tell them to NOT POLISH the watch"...

Not at all. He wears it regularly (at least a few days a week)…No particular event (no fall). The funny thing is how I always praise Rolex’s reliability compared to other brands (he's considering a JLC which I don't like, anyway...). He couldn’t resist to tell me he never had a problem with his $1500 Oris diver…(neither with his moonwatch or Tudor ETA black bay…).

Thanks, that was an amazing day for our athletes

Other than making the first fit adjustment on the bracelet, I never want an AD working on my watch. Your Explorer II should still be under warranty. Drop it off at the Brussels RSC, then relax for several weeks.
